    Job Title: Engineering Operations Specialist

    Job Description

    This full-time contract Engineering Support Specialist position offers a unique opportunity to provide materials coordination and support to the Materials Management organization within the Logistics Management Office group. The role is pivotal in ensuring that government-furnished project materials are available to construction contractors as scheduled. You will collaborate closely with supervisory personnel, Contracting Officer’s Representatives, Contract Specialists, and a wide range of customers both internal and external.

    Responsibilities

    + Review Bills of Materials, availability of Government Furnished Materials, and Material Request Order Status Reports to validate materials for projects are ordered and available at construction Notice to Proceed.

    + Provide construction contractors with detailed lists of required project materials and quantities.

    + Offer external stakeholders a written and/or verbal overview of technical specifications regarding material procedures.

    + Run pre-defined reports to identify unavailable materials for projects and submit written notifications to the project team.

    + Alert the Project Manager and/or project team of any material issues and provide updates throughout resolution.

    + Assist in expediting materials, tracking missing shipments, and resolving material availability issues.

    + Coordinate and schedule the release of materials to contractors as per contract agreements.

    + Validate that material inventories are accurately filled, loaded, and transported to keep projects on schedule.

    + Create inventory worksheets for physical inventories and process material returns.

    + Collaborate with Investment Recovery for the return of project materials for future use or disposal.

    + Monitor, track, and report all material usage and calculate costs of materials wasted, lost, or damaged.

    + Attend meetings to provide material status updates to project managers and contractors.

    + Extract and analyze reports of material charges against project work orders, resolving discrepancies.

    + Participate in the improvement process by recommending new or revised procedures and processes.

    + Maintain filing systems, files, emails, and records in compliance with standards and procedures.

    Essential Skills

    + High school diploma or equivalent required.

    + Bachelor’s Degree in business administration, supply and logistics management, construction management, engineering, or a closely related technical field is desired.

    + 5 years of engineering operations experience in supporting construction logistics and engineering operations.

    + Broad knowledge of engineering operations policies and procedures involving material and equipment inventory and control.

    + Experience with Oracle-based Enterprise Resource Planning software.

    + Experience with Excel Visual Basic for Applications (VBA).

    + Working knowledge of SharePoint for data entry and retrieval.

    + Extremely detail-oriented and capable of working independently on multiple complex projects.

    + Ability to identify problems and communicate them to leadership effectively.

    + Strong oral communication skills for conveying technical advice and information.

    + Comfortable working from established rules, guides, or processes.

    + Excellent customer service and communication skills in fast-paced environments.

    + High level of organizational abilities, multi-tasking skills, and attention to detail.

    + Ability to manage support for assigned projects and provide advice to achieve desired outcomes.

    Work Environment

    The Logistics Management organization manages warehousing of materials, investment recovery operations, HazMat facilities, and transportation throughout the service area. The environment is slower-paced with somewhat flexible hours and a business casual attire policy. The role involves independent work with minimal supervision, often waiting for approvals and paperwork completion, and is deadline-driven.

    This is a Contract position based out of Vancouver, WA.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $27.00 - $32.00/hr.
