Job Title: Distribution Field TechnicianJob Description
This role involves the preparation of field notes, drawings, specifications, and design estimates. The position requires analytical competence to interact effectively with a variety of individuals, including engineers.
Responsibilities
+ Prepare and modify electrical and roadway drawings, specifications, calculations, charts, graphs, and construction drawing packages.
+ Maintain production and quality of projects, including management of field data, photographs, engineering analysis, reports, various departmental reports, and databases.
+ Perform various field technical services for the operation, inspection, and maintenance of electrical distribution systems.
+ Conduct system inventories and audits, joint use management and permitting, pad-mount inspections, ground-line pole inspections, metering and apparatus services, and lighting audits.
+ Collect field data utilizing laptop computers, tablet devices, GPS, and other electronic devices for database input.
+ Operate necessary equipment to take measurements on utility poles and mid-span facilities, perform pole inspections, and inspect and maintain pad-mount equipment.
+ Develop a working knowledge of telephone, cable, and other communication facilities.
+ Present ideas effectively in both formal and informal situations and communicate clearly both verbally and in writing with all levels in the organization and with outside clients and agencies.
Essential Skills
+ Entry-level experience with an Associate's degree in Electrical, Civil, or Mechanical Engineering.
+ 1+ years of electric utility or telecommunications field experience preferred.
+ Familiarity with the National Electrical Safety Code (NESC) is preferred.
+ Knowledge of computers and Microsoft Office applications.
+ Proficient use of engineering software and AutoCAD or similar programs is preferred.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Must have a high school diploma.
+ Bachelor's Degree preferred.
+ Clear and valid driver's license required for travel to surrounding utility territory.
+ Skills in engineering, electrical schematics, blueprints, test equipment, and technical aptitude.
+ Comfortable working outdoors.
Work Environment
The work environment is primarily outdoors, requiring the ability to perform fieldwork in various weather conditions. The role involves traveling to surrounding utility territories as needed.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Asheville, NC.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $23.00/hr.
