Job Title: Assistant Resident Engineer
Job Description
The role is based at a site location in Staten Island, where you will manage the firm's day-to-day construction oversight and assist in resident engineering efforts on a major NYCDEP infrastructure upgrade contract. You will work closely with the Resident Engineer to manage inspection staff and ensure the delivery of daily inspector reports in accordance with client requirements. Additionally, you will act as a liaison to the design staff, responding to Contractors’ RFIs and reviewing shop drawings.
Responsibilities
+ Assist the Resident Engineer in managing office staff responsible for record-keeping, general correspondence, and drafting required reports and deliverables.
+ Provide technical review of construction plans and specifications, assessing project changes for constructability and practicality.
+ Manage overall site safety and ensure compliance with permit conditions.
+ Monitor Contractor performance, schedule, responsiveness, and effectiveness.
+ Exert influence over contractors to achieve project goals related to cost, schedule, and quality.
+ Support the review, preparation, and processing of Contractor payments.
+ Lead meetings and prepare agendas and minutes.
+ Use effective communication skills to lead meetings on progress, safety, scheduling, and other contract administration topics with clients, local agencies, and the community.
+ Supervise other staff members on the project.
+ Perform other responsibilities as assigned.
Essential Skills
+ Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
+ 5+ years of experience working on NYCDEP or NYCDDC Projects.
+ Experience as an Office Engineer or Assistant Resident Engineer for NYC projects.
+ Proficiency in Civil/MEP disciplines.
+ EIT certification and on track to obtain PE (Professional Engineer).
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Prior experience in industrial construction and wastewater treatment.
+ Experience with structural engineering.
Work Environment
You will be working on the NYCDEP WWTP project, reporting to a team that includes inspectors, field engineers, construction managers, and resident engineers. The position requires a 5-day on-site presence from 7 AM to 4 PM. The work environment includes a field office on site, providing a collaborative team atmosphere.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of New York, NY.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $57.69 - $67.30/hr.
