Laboratory Assistant
Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Lab Assistant to join our hematology department! This role offers an excellent opportunity to gain experience in a large reference laboratory and the potential to grow into a technical position.
Key Responsibilities
Monitor Hematology Track Systems
+ Walk the track regularly to ensure all instruments are operating correctly.
+ Check for jams or mechanical obstructions.
+ Perform basic troubleshooting when instrument issues arise.
Sample Quality & Label Verification
+ Inspect sample tubes for proper labeling and placement.
+ Ensure labels are secure and correctly positioned so they do not interfere with instrument sensors or mechanics.
+ Verify sample quality and identify issues that may affect processing.
Instrument Support & Maintenance
+ Observe instrument performance and report irregularities to staff or technical specialists.
+ Assist in routine instrument upkeep as directed.
General Lab Support
+ Assist with additional tasks when the track is not active, including prepping materials, organizing samples, or supporting workflow needs.
Qualifications
+ Prior lab experience preferred, but not required
+ High School Diploma or GED
+ High attention to detail
+ Comfortable with high-volume workloads and ability to adapt to urgent tasks.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Austin, TX.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.06 - $20.06/hr.
