Materials Specialist: WAREHOUSE MANAGEMENT
Job Description
A Materials Specialist with 10 to 15 years of experience is a highly experienced professional responsible for managing all aspects of materials procurement, inventory management, and distribution for projects. They ensure that materials are efficiently sourced, stored, and distributed to meet project needs while adhering to safety, environmental, and sustainability standards.
Responsibilities
+ Oversee and manage the procurement of materials required for projects, focusing on cost-effectiveness, quality, and timely delivery.
+ Maintain an organized and efficient inventory system for materials, tools, and equipment.
+ Implement rigorous quality control measures to inspect incoming materials for compliance with project specifications, quality standards, and safety regulations.
+ Efficiently allocate materials and resources to project teams, ensuring teams have access to necessary materials when and where needed, optimizing resource allocation to minimize waste.
+ Promote and enforce environmental sustainability practices in materials management.
+ Ensure compliance with environmental and safety standards in materials handling, storage, and disposal.
+ Maintain detailed and accurate records of material inventories, procurement activities, and distribution.
+ Prepare regular reports on materials status and usage, tracking key performance indicators.
+ Develop and enforce comprehensive safety protocols for materials handling and ensure team members are trained in safe materials management practices.
+ Manage and nurture positive relationships with suppliers, negotiate contracts, and track supplier performance to ensure the reliability and quality of materials.
+ Play a key role in developing and managing project budgets related to materials procurement and inventory management.
+ Address complex issues related to materials availability, quality, or distribution and provide innovative solutions to minimize project disruptions and optimize materials-related processes.
Essential Skills
+ 10 to 15 years of experience in materials procurement, inventory management, and supply chain coordination.
+ Extensive knowledge of a wide range of materials used in construction and community service projects, including tools, equipment, and building materials.
+ Proficiency in advanced inventory control practices, including real-time tracking, auditing, and optimizing inventory levels.
+ In-depth knowledge of safety regulations and a strong ability to lead in enforcing safety protocols in materials management.
+ Proven ability to manage and optimize vendor relationships, negotiate contracts, and consistently track supplier performance.
+ Extensive experience in developing and managing project budgets, with a focus on materials procurement and management.
+ Excellent communication skills for effectively interacting with project teams, suppliers, stakeholders, and other key stakeholders.
+ Exceptional problem-solving skills for addressing complex materials-related challenges and implementing innovative solutions.
+ Proficiency in materials management software and tools for real-time tracking, reporting, and optimizing materials management processes.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ A bachelor's degree in supply chain management, materials management, or a related field is preferred.
+ Skills in inventory, forklift operation, shipping and receiving, inventory control, picking, and shipping & receiving.
Work Environment
The work environment involves the use of materials management software and tools for real-time tracking and reporting. It requires maintaining a safe and organized space for materials handling and storage while ensuring compliance with environmental and safety standards.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract position based out of Smyrna, GA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $50.00/hr.
