Instrumentation and Controls Engineer
Job Description
As an Instrumentation and Controls Engineer, you will be responsible for the specification and procurement of instrumentation for large frame gas turbines. You will create IO lists, process and build out logic, and generate logic velocity. You will also maintain all supporting instrument documentation and gas turbine control logic documentation. This role involves determining customer instrumentation and control contract requirements and delivery dates, as well as creating a procurement schedule and technical specifications.
Responsibilities
+ Support project engineering in addressing customer gas turbine instrumentation needs.
+ Assess bids and support new gas turbine builds.
+ Verify supplier quotes and instrumentation against system P&IDs.
+ Create instrument loops and data sheets.
+ Liaise with clients, suppliers, contractors, and project management.
+ Collaborate with design, operations, and sales teams.
+ Resolve customer comments on drawings.
+ Create and maintain I&C procedures and checklists.
+ Troubleshoot and solve problems at project sites.
+ Ensure compliance with technical standards and codes.
+ Qualify new vendors as needed.
+ Travel up to 15%.
Essential Skills
+ 5+ years of relevant I&C experience in power plant, process/chemical plant, or oil & gas.
+ Proficiency in instrumentation and control systems.
+ Experience with P&ID and process instrumentation diagrams.
+ Knowledge of plant processing and various control systems such as Netmation, MK5, MK6, Complicity, T3000, R3000, Simatic, Ovation, Delta V.
+ Familiarity with pressure transmitters, switches, gauges, control valves, thermocouples, RTDs, and other instrumentation.
+ Understanding of balance of plant (BOP) and I/O list creation.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience.
+ Experience with control valves and Smart Plant Instrumentation (SPI) is highly desirable.
+ Ability to conduct Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs) if required.
+ Capability to support field operations with on-site installation and start-up commissioning.
+ Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
+ Excellent communication and presentation skills.
Work Environment
You will work in an engineering office environment with a team of about six members. The role involves collaboration with various departments and occasional travel. The position requires the ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical documents and write reports and business correspondence.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Lake Mary, FL.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $55.00 - $65.00/hr.
