Job Title: Cable Technician** **Job Description
The role involves performing a variety of complex electrical trade functions such as the installation, maintenance, or repair of electronics and/or electrical equipment for the generation, distribution, or utilization of electric energy onboard U.S. vessels/government installations.
Responsibilities
+ Report directly to the Production Manager and project leads.
+ Perform component and/or system troubleshooting to diagnose problems and provide cost-effective repair recommendations.
+ Verify mechanical alignments and ensure control of Level-1 material controls in accordance with company instructions.
+ Install, repair, overhaul, or modify electronic or electro-mechanical systems and components both in place and in shop.
+ Assist with on-site field service for system grooms and checkouts, minor repairs, and system configuration validation.
+ Prepare and install equipment or system alterations according to directives.
+ Notify project leads of any unsatisfactory conditions identified during production operations.
+ Maintain good housekeeping practices and adhere to all safety regulations.
+ Perform electrical testing using multimeters, miggers, amp meters, and load banks.
+ Assemble multi-pin connectors and fiber optic connections.
+ Install and seat brushes for AC and DC motors/generators and complete inspection and resurfacing of commutators and slip rings.
+ Perform work outside of trade if necessary.
Essential Skills
+ Electrical trade skills with a minimum of three years' experience as an electrician and/or cable puller in the ship repair industry.
+ Experience troubleshooting, repairing, and testing electrical powered equipment, electrical connections, fiber optics, cableways, transformers, motor controllers, and lighting.
+ Knowledge of NAVSEA Standard Items.
+ Qualified in at least two of the following processes: copper multi-pin connector assembly or repair.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Active DBIDS required.
+ Experience in completing connection/disconnection tasks.
+ Familiarity with working from blueprints, drawings, and layouts.

Work Environment
Work will be performed aboard the USS MAKIN ISLAND (LHD-8) at Naval Base San Diego (NBSD). The role requires adherence to safety protocols and involves using a variety of electrician's tools and testing instruments.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract position based out of National City, CA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $38.00/hr.
