Job Description

Aerotek is hiring aluminum MIG welders for an exciting opportunity that starts in Newport News, Virginia. You will perform MIG welding on aluminum according to specifications and blueprints, ensuring all welds meet quality standards.

Responsibilities

+ Perform MIG and flux core welding on aluminum and carbon steel according to specifications and blueprints.

+ Prepare aluminum parts for welding, including cleaning, grinding, and fitting.

+ Set up and operate MIG welding equipment, including wire feeders, gas regulators, and welding guns.

+ Select appropriate welding parameters (wire type, gas type, voltage, amperage) for different aluminum alloys and thicknesses.

+ Ensure welds meet quality standards and specifications.

+ Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications to understand project requirements.

+ Follow instructions and procedures to ensure accurate and consistent welding.

Essential Skills

+ Proficiency in MIG welding.

+ Experience with aluminum welding.

+ Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.

+ Familiarity with welding equipment setup and operation.

+ Understanding of welding parameters for various aluminum alloys and thicknesses.

Work Environment

You will be working at the shipyards, transitioning between Virginia and Wisconsin. This role offers a challenging and engaging environment with the chance to work on significant projects.

-All candidates will be paid per diem for being in Virginia and Wisconsin while working.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Newport News, VA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $35.00/hr.
