Job Description
The Cold Prep Cook is responsible for preparing all cold food items, including salads, dressings, garnishes, fruit, and other chilled components essential to kitchen operations. This role supports the culinary team by ensuring ingredients are prepped accurately, consistently, and in accordance with food safety standards. It’s a fast-paced, detail‑oriented position ideal for someone who enjoys organization, precision, and teamwork.
Responsibilities
+ Prepare cold menu items such as salads, fruit, vegetables, dressings, sauces, and garnishes according to standardized recipes.
+ Maintain proper food storage, labeling, dating, and rotation (FIFO) to ensure freshness and minimize waste.
+ Follow food safety and sanitation standards, including proper handwashing, glove use, and cleaning procedures.
+ Set up and break down cold prep stations efficiently at the start and end of each shift.
+ Assist with inventory by monitoring ingredient levels and communicating needs to supervisors.
+ Work collaboratively with kitchen staff to support smooth service and timely dish execution.
+ Maintain a clean, organized workspace throughout the shift.
Essential Skills
+ Line cook experience
+ Proficiency in chopping and knife skills
+ Food preparation and cooking knowledge
+ Attention to detail and organization
+ Strong understanding of food safety and sanitation practices
+ Time management skills
+ Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 30–40 lbs
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Previous kitchen or prep experience preferred but not required
+ ServSafe certification is a plus
+ Positive attitude and teamwork mindset
+ Ability to follow recipes and instructions with consistency and accuracy

Work Environment
Work in a fast-paced kitchen setting within a school cafeteria, requiring frequent coordination between stations. Exposure to cold storage areas such as walk‑ins and prep coolers is common. The dress code includes black khakis, a polo shirt, and non-slip shoes. Flexible scheduling, including nights, weekends, and holidays, is available depending on business needs.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Fort Worth, TX.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $15.00 - $15.00/hr.
