    Job Description

    Join our team as a Railcar Repairman, where you will engage in a mix of mechanical and welding tasks to ensure the efficient repair of rail cars. This role is physically demanding and involves working in a challenging industrial environment. While fluxcore welding experience is preferred, we offer training opportunities for those skilled in MIG welding.

    Responsibilities

    + Perform 60% mechanical work and 40% welding to repair rail cars.

    + Work safely around heavy equipment, railcars, and railroad tracks.

    + Coordinate and complete all railcar repairs and maintenance.

    + Interpret job work orders and follow blueprints/schematics to conduct necessary repairs.

    + Utilize basic mechanical skills and knowledge of machines and tools to weld, cut, and gouge.

    + Notify about any materials and/or equipment required to ensure job task completion.

    + Follow all safety rules, maintain a clean work area, and comply with Environmental, Health, and Safety policies.

    + Ensure FRA, AAR, and customer quality standards are met.

    + Perform any other duties as assigned to complete tasks.

    Essential Skills

    + Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to weld.

    + Experience with repair, mechanical assembly, and fabrication.

    + Knowledge of hand tools, air tools, and torch cutting.

    + Ability to stand for long periods and lift repetitively.

    + Experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably involving mechanical or railcar work.

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

    + Ability to take and pass a fluxcore weld test, determining training needs.

    Work Environment

     

    Expect to work in a very hot environment during the summer and a cold environment during the winter. The setting is industrial, dirty, and requires working with heavy equipment. Be prepared for physically demanding tasks in a challenging climate.

    This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Hollidaysburg, PA.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $22.00/hr.
