Description

We are looking for an experienced Assistant Controller to join our team. This contract-to-hire position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to critical financial operations within a dynamic retail food industry environment. The ideal candidate will bring strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills, coupled with expertise in accounting and finance processes.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare and consolidate accurate financial statements to ensure compliance and transparency.

• Develop and maintain effective internal controls to safeguard company assets and data.

• Manage all general ledger activities, ensuring precision and consistency in financial records.

• Deliver detailed monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial analyses to support decision-making.

• Collaborate on the budget process, providing insights and assisting in its coordination.

• Research complex accounting issues to ensure regulatory compliance and adherence to standards.

• Analyze and report cost variances to identify areas for improvement and optimization.

• Serve as the primary point of contact for external auditors, facilitating smooth communication and audits.

• Supervise accounts receivable, accounts payable, and general accounting departments to maintain efficient operations.

• Support system implementation and upgrades, ensuring seamless integration into financial workflows.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance is required.

• Minimum of five years of experience in accounting or finance, with public accounting experience highly preferred.

• Proficiency in month-end close processes and general ledger management.

• Strong skills in reconciliations, collections, and commission accounting.

• Hands-on experience with NetSuite or similar financial systems.

• Knowledge of sales tax returns and compliance requirements.

• Demonstrated ability to analyze financial data and report variances effectively.

• Excellent organizational and communication skills to manage multiple priorities.
