Job Description
MIT Lincoln Laboratory is a federally-funded research and development center chartered to develop advanced technology in support of national security. Research and development activities focus on long-term technology development as well as rapid system prototyping and demonstration. The Laboratory works with government and industry to transition new concepts, technology and prototypes into future system development and deployment.
The Mission Assurance Office (MAO) is located in the Director’s Office. The objective of the MAO is to partner with programs, Divisions, Groups, and Departments to collaboratively achieve mission success by pro-actively identifying and mitigating risks associated with the significant technical level, effort, and expense involved in rapid developmental Laboratory programs.
We are seeking a candidate who will perform mission assurance for the Laboratory in support of programs with applications in space, missile, shipboard, airborne, and ground-based systems. This involves ensuring that critical quality and engineering processes are in place for each program.
The successful candidate will be integrated within one or more program teams performing all Mission Assurance functions for the team. This includes collaborating with program teams to tailor and implement laboratory quality processes. It includes training engineers, technicians, and team members in processes and techniques. The candidate will actively engage with program sponsors and participate in requirements definition, design, test reviews, supplier selection and management, and pre-ship reviews. The position includes performing reliability, systems safety, and other mission assurance assessments, such as hazard analysis, reliability predictions, and failure modes and effects analysis (FMEA). The position includes identifying and mitigating program risks, disseminate lessons learned, and analyzing and partnering with teams to address system failures.
The candidate will be trained on the job to become a mission assurance engineer. This individual will, over time, become a subject matter expert in mission assurance, applying this knowledge through the program lifecycle to enable mission success for laboratory programs.
Bachelor’s degree or Master's Degree preferred in Electrical, Mechanical, Aerospace, or Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, or related field3-5 years of experience preferredFast and eager learner, hardworking, reliable, effective at multitasking, great team playerMulti-disciplinary systems thinker, good at understanding the big pictureGreat written and oral communications skills and presentation skillsProficient computer and database skillsFamiliarity with AS9100/ISO9000 and other areas of mission assurance preferredAbility to obtain and maintain a government security clearance is required
