    Hormel Foods – Industrial Maintenance Mechanic (1st Shift)

     

    Shift: 1st Shift (Monday–Friday, 5:00AM–1:30PM; weekend work as required)

     

    Wage Rate: $24.75–$34.50 per hour

     

    We are seeking motivated, skilled individuals to join our Maintenance team. Ideal candidates show strong problem-solving abilities, reliability, and a commitment to safety and operational excellence. This role plays a critical part in keeping production equipment running efficiently and safely in our food processing environment.

    Responsibilities

    + Tear down, set up, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair all plant equipment with minimal supervision.

    + Install, operate, maintain, and repair processing equipment using industrial maintenance skills.

    + Monitor equipment performance and make adjustments to ensure safe and efficient operation.

    + Perform preventative and predictive maintenance programs.

    + Assist with system modifications to improve equipment operation and support plant goals.

    + Utilize the Asset Management System (EAM).

    + Provide training to less experienced maintenance personnel.

    Qualifications

    Required:

    + Previous mechanical experience required.

    + Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.

    + Ability to work with minimal supervision and prioritize multiple tasks.

    + Attention to detail and ability to use computer systems/software.

    + Ability to climb ladders, lift up to 50 lbs, and work in temperatures ranging from -10°F to 100°F.

    + Ability to use powered equipment such as forklifts and hi-lifts.

    + Must be authorized to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship.

    + Must be 18 year of age or older.

    Preferred:

    + Preferred experience with mechanical, electrical, pneumatics, and hydraulics in an industrial manufacturing facility.

    + Experience with refrigeration equipment, boilers, compressors, HVAC, fire suppression, or water treatment a plus.

    Work Environment

    + Exposure to cold temperatures (35–40°F on production floor).

    + Wet, slippery floors and mechanical equipment.

    + Exposure to chemicals used in sanitation.

    + Loud noise; PPE required including hard hat, safety glasses, and hearing protection.
