    Shenandoah University’s Department of Nursing is accepting applications for a Graduate Clinical Placement Coordinator. This is a full-time benefited position located on our main campus in Winchester, Virginia.

     

    The Graduate Clinical Placement Coordinator facilitates documentation for courses with a clinical component within the SON and collaborates with the Associate Dean of Graduate Programs and Graduate Program Directors for students’ optimal learning experiences.

    The Graduate Clinical Placement Coordinator will:

    + Ensure that students provide documented evidence of all required immunizations as outlined by the University and School of Nursing, maintain an active and unencumbered registered nurse license, and maintain a current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for healthcare providers, including infants, children, and adults.

    + Ensure students complete orientation requirements before clinical start, including site-specific orientations.

    + Maintain student compliance documents in accordance with site requirements.

    + Facilitate clear, effective communication between the academic institution, affiliated clinical site, and the assigned student.

    + Maintain a professional, mature, collegial relationship with all clinical affiliates.

    + Continue to develop collaborative relationships with clinical partners to maintain a sufficient number of specialty sites to ensure quality, quantity, and diversity of learning experiences in collaboration with Program Directors to meet student learning outcomes.

    + Serve as a resource to faculty and students on site requirements.

    + Maintain effective and professional lines of communication with the Dean, Associate Dean, faculty, university personnel, and clinical sites.

    + Ensure agency contracts are up to date for clinical placement.

    + Ensure that all required preceptor documentation—including curriculum vitae, professional certification, and current licensure—is obtained before the student’s clinical placement.

    + Solicit requests from graduate students for specific clinical site preferences, being mindful of student residency and student learning outcomes, in collaboration with Program Directors.

    + Maintain active involvement in student orientations, open houses, nursing pinning ceremonies, university graduation, and other University/SON events.

    + Maintain data and reports necessary for regulation and accreditation in collaboration with the Associate Dean and Program Directors.

    + Provide data as needed to the Dean, Associate Dean, and Program Directors.

    + Support the School of Nursing through administrative work on committees, maintaining agendas and minutes, managing corresponding Google/Canvas sites, and proctoring student examinations.

    + Maintain proficiency with the use of software platforms including but not limited to EXXAT, Canvas, and Google.

    + Complete other administrative duties as assigned by the Dean, Associate Dean, and Program Directors.

    Required Skills

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

    + Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively at all levels in a collaborative team environment.

    + Highly developed written and verbal communication skills.

    + Ability to facilitate a liaison relationship between the SON, other universities and colleges, students, and community stakeholders.

    + Ability to work with technology and software platforms

    + Demonstrate work that reflects the mission, vision, and philosophy of the University and SON.

    + Demonstrate work that reflects mature, professional, goal-oriented, and flexible actions.

    + Bachelor’s Degree preferred

    Working Conditions and Physical Effort:

    + Light physical activity. Work may involve standing or walking, usually for not more than 4 hours per day.

    + Work is performed in an interior academic environment.

    + Must demonstrate unassisted ability to lift therapeutically and safely, hold, and mobilize loads of up to 50 lbs.
