Environmental Services Supervisor Position Overview:
The Environmental Services Supervisor is responsible for the overall maintenance operation and life safety compliance of the facility. This includes direct oversight of the maintenance, housekeeping/environmental services, and laundry departments. The Environmental Services Supervisor ensures that the building, grounds, and equipment are well-maintained, that resident environments are clean and sanitary, and that laundry services operate efficiently. This individual is responsible for repairs, preventative maintenance, supply management, scheduling, compliance with regulatory standards, and the supervision of departmental staff. The Environmental Services Supervisor follows established safety rules, policies, and procedures, maintains required records, and consistently provides superior service to residents and staff.
Responsibilities:
+ Oversee and maintain the building systems such as, but not limited to, heating, cooling, plumbing, water, gas, electrical, mechanical, oxygen, and communication systems; perform carpentry, painting, plastering, refinishing, flooring, and similar work.
+ Schedule and coordinate maintenance or repair work with outside vendors as needed.
+ Participate in inspections (surveys) conducted by authorized agencies.
+ Follow a Preventative Maintenance schedule to ensure the proper care and functioning of essential equipment in the facility.
+ Requisition, inventory, and manage supplies and equipment for use in maintenance, housekeeping, and laundry departments; run reports as needed/requested.
+ Coordinate departmental work with other facility operations so as not to disrupt resident care or normal business functions.
+ Meet with Administration staff regularly to discuss needs and address issues related to structure, equipment, grounds, and overall facility upkeep.
+ Communicate effectively with the facility Administrator and corporate oversight regarding building and departmental operations.
+ Attend and lead in-service programs and trainings.
+ Supervise the completion of maintenance, housekeeping and laundry duties through walk-thru inspections and direct observation, ensuring the facility is maintained in a clean, sanitary, and safe manner.
+ Monitor and order housekeeping supplies (paper goods, cleaning supplies, etc.) to ensure an adequate supply for the facility.
+ Monitor and order laundry supplies (linens, chemicals, etc.) to ensure an adequate supply for the facility.
+ Create and maintain accurate schedules for all maintenance, housekeeping, and laundry staff, ensuring they are accessible to employees.
+ Demonstrate supervisory experience including hiring, training, discharging, overseeing, and scheduling departmental staff, while maintaining hours and operations within budget.
+ Maintain confidentiality of all patient and employee information.
+ Manage departmental costs within the parameters of the approved budget.
+ Review and update departmental policies and procedures as needed.
+ Submit monthly reports to the Administrator.
+ Use maintenance software to track work orders, preventative maintenance, and regulatory compliance to ensure the facility remains in good standing.
Qualifications:
+ High school diploma or equivalent
+ Minimum three (3) years of experience in related areas of: electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and/or HVAC systems maintenance
+ Familiarity with using computer programs to place orders, manage inventory, etc.
+ Valid, current driver license in good standing
+ Demonstrate supervisory exp., including hiring, training, discharge, overseeing and scheduling department Staff, as well as managing staff hours and ordering supplies within the budget.
