Assumes responsibility for the development and administration of the Belanger School of Nursing. Measures and maintains academic quality and nursing program outcomes. Provides supervision of the curriculum, recruitment, admission, financial aid, faculty, and staff, as well as budgeting, hiring and strategic planning for the school. The Dean co-chairs the Belanger School of Nursing Organization Committee of the school and serves as the liaison to Ellis Medicine leadership. The Dean monitors the professional field and program standards to strengthen the program and implements workgroups to determine scale and needs to align with the mission, vision and values of Ellis Medicine and Belanger School of Nursing.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT(S):
+ Licensure: Holds an unencumbered professional Registered Nursing license in New York State
+ Education : H olds a minimum of a Master’s Degree in Nursing, with a specialty in Nursing Education. The preferred academic credential is an earned doctorate in nursing or related field (PhD, EdD, DNP, DNS). Candidates who are in progress earning a Doctorate will need to complete the degree within 3 years.
+ Experience : Possesses a minimum of five (5) years of experience in nursing education in a nursing program that leads to RN licensure. Possesses two (2) years of supervision and or administration experience in lower division collegiate nursing programs.
+ Certification: Not required, candidates with a CNE certification are preferred
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
The position is located indoors and has community responsibilities in which the incumbent is required to attend. Should be able to push/pull 35 lb., lift/move 15 lb. from floor to table, be able to perform moderately difficult manual manipulations such as using a keyboard, writing and filing for extended periods of time, must be able to perform tasks which require hand-eye coordination such as data entry, typing and using photo copiers. Mobility requirements may include the ability to sit at a computer terminal or workstation for a prolonged period of time in addition to being able to squat, stand and walk for a reasonable length of time and distance and manual dexterity.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POSITION:
Administrative functions
+ Leads the nursing program, responsible for the administration of institutional policies at the school of nursing
+ Ensures that classrooms, skills, clinical facilities, instructional resources, and equipment are sufficient in quantity and quality to support curricular objectives, instruction, and student performance
+ Develops and implements strategic planning process and the establishment of strategic goals in collaboration with Advisory Committee to BSON, stakeholders, faculty, and staff for the Belanger School of Nursing
+ Assures program compliance with NY State Education Department regulations and ACEN accreditation requirements. Maintain ACEN program accreditation and NYSED approval
+ Ensures proper administration of human resources policies and procedures as defined by the school of nursing and Ellis Medicine
+ Develops operational and capital budgets for the school of nursing with faculty input; manage expenses to budget and justify variances monthly, administers fiscal resources for the school of nursing
+ Establishes and maintains collaborative relationships with other departments at Ellis Medicine, schools, colleges, clinical agencies, and stakeholders
+ Collaborates with the Ellis Medicine Librarian to ensure that the library collection is sufficient in depth and breadth to support BSON mission and curriculum.
+ Participates in the Council for Associate Degree Nursing in NYS and the New York State Hospital Council of Schools of Nursing
+ Participates in local, state, and national nursing education meetings
+ Manage partnerships with approved NYSED joint registrants (SUNY Schenectady, Siena College)
+ Explores and develops new opportunities for additional partnerships with approved NYSED institutions
+ Assures that the development and implementation of the Systematic Evaluation Plan is in accordance with ACEN criteria
+ Ensures standards are maintained for continued participation of the school in New York State and Federal Financial Aid Programs
+ Assists in publicizing and disseminating information about BSON
+ Shares expertise and knowledge by collaborating with Ellis Medicine staff and serving on select Ellis Medicine committees
+ Contributes to nursing research and evidence-based practice at Ellis Medicine by participating in nursing scholarly activities on an as needed basis
+ Member of all standing committees for the school
Curriculum Leadership
+ Supervises the design, implementation and evaluation of the curriculum in collaboration with faculty and staff in accordance with national and state regulation and accreditation standards
+ Directs periodic curriculum review of the overall curriculum based on national nursing education standards, accreditation criteria and state requirements
+ Maintains affiliation agreements, articulation agreements, and contracts
Faculty/Staff Activities
+ Recruits, hires, retains, and mentors qualified faculty and staff
+ Assures performance faculty and staff performance evaluations are conducted per Ellis Medicine policy. Assures individual annual professional goals are established and assist in achievement of stated goals
+ Responsible for the overall faculty and staffing plan for the school. Anticipates hiring needs
+ Coordinates professional development plan for faculty and staff
+ Provides resources for faculty development
+ Assures all department personnel are in compliance with hospital and school polices, including health and HealthStream requirements
Student Activities
+ Oversees the recruitment, admission, and progression of students
+ Assures the school provides appropriate support services to meet the needs of students
+ Assures all students are in compliance with hospital and school policies
+ Collaborates with the Human Resource and Nursing Professional Practice Department departments to assure smooth transition of Belanger School of Nursing graduates into RN roles at Ellis Medicine

Salary Range: $49.55-79.28 /hour Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location.
