The Senior Design Project Manager is a key position supporting the SVP of design conduct the timely execution of various design driven projects through all its development stages- such as key design collections, brand partnerships, freelance design agreements, design collaborations, and design research. The role is meant to support the Design Direction unit and the operations of the brand at large through the entire design and product development process by managing communication, complex and layered timelines and deliverables while leading the brand calendar committee across different key functions, on a seasonal and annual basis.

A Day in the Life of a Senior Design Project Manager...

+ Possess and demonstrate a complete understanding of the plan, vision and goals of the Merchandise and Product Design and Development Department

+ Drive the execution of designer contracts, and the ability to explain and understand legal terms of the contract to prospective designers, internal stakeholders and others

+ Actively manage current agreements making sure the work is delivered accurately and on time

+ Track all in-season product design and surface design projects

+ Support in the creation of special presentations that inform research for travel, inspiration and design development

+ Keep designer information lists up-to-date

+ Assist in the creation, mounting and presentation of slideshows and exhibits

+ Help to produce inspiration materials and events

+ Lead designer candidates through the contract process. Work closely with our legal counsel to address contract-related questions and issues

+ Oversee designer set-up, including assigning a designer number and gathering designer assets such as photos, photo releases, biography, questionnaire and signature for branding

+ Manage the Merchandising Department portion of the designer payment process, starting with requesting all forms necessary to set up designer payments. Process monthly payment information to submit to Accounts Payable

+ Track, process and monitor timely and accurate payments of all royalties and designer commissions to external partners and agreements

+ Track budgets for the team including travel for product development, artwork commissions and samples and all design department invoicing

+ Lead the communication with various external resources being leveraged for seasonal design development

+ Assist in the management of artwork purchase agreements, including processing artwork purchase invoices

+ Lead the management of the artwork library

+ Work closely with Marketing and other teams on all design-related activities, including gathering and streamlining product information needed for catalogs and the website, PR requests, SKU creation etc

+ Own the scheduling and management of the Crate and Barrel and Crate & Kids brand calendar ensuring alignment and the on time execution of all milestones across functions throughout the process

What you'll bring to the table...

+ Passion for design, style and decorating and knowledge of design and art history

+ Ability to interact and collaborate with executives and/or major customers/vendors with experience negotiating/influencing

+ Participates with other senior leaders to establish strategic plans and objectives

+ Ability to translate business and design objectives into strategic creative plans for team/function

+ Strong proficiency in excel

+ Highly organized and fluent in managing multiple projects and timelines at once across the enterprise

We'd love to hear from you if you have...

+ 4+ years experience in a Project Management track within the retail industry.

+ Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent required
