We are seeking a visionary and results-oriented Director, Technology Management, with 12-15+ years of extensive experience, including senior leadership roles. This individual will lead a multifaceted Technology organization, overseeing multiple teams across various Technology disciplines, driving innovation, and ensuring the strategic alignment and operational effectiveness of Technology initiatives with overarching company goals. You will collaborate with senior directors and executive leadership on strategic plans and objectives, make final decisions on implementation, and ensure operational effectiveness, mastering core functional areas within the company and the competitive environment. This pivotal role requires a leader who can tackle complex, undefined issues by translating functional strategy into actionable plans and guiding their execution.
A day in the life as a Director, Technology Management:
+ Provide strategic leadership and direction for multiple Technology teams across various disciplines, overseeing reports who are typically managers, and ensuring alignment with organizational goals and priorities.
+ Lead your teams to demonstrate a bias for action and proactively identify and solve ambiguous problems, consistently delivering high-quality, impactful results that advance team goals.
+ Collaborate with senior directors and executive leadership on strategic plans and objectives, making final decisions on implementation, and ensuring operational effectiveness.
+ Master core functional areas within the company and the competitive environment, tackling complex, undefined issues by translating function strategy into functional plans and guiding execution.
+ Engage with senior management, executives, and key stakeholders to reconcile views and drive business results through cross-functional initiatives.
+ Deconstruct department-level strategies into detailed operational and project plans. Delegate responsibilities to direct reports, ensuring that teams have clear, actionable goals and that execution is aligned with long-term functional and company objectives.
+ Drive operational excellence, innovation, and efficiency across departments, championing agile practices and other relevant methodologies.
+ Remove significant roadblocks that may impede the progress of multiple teams, proactively addressing complex, cross-functional challenges, mitigating enterprise-level risks, and fostering a collaborative and solutions-oriented environment.
+ Define and drive the long-term technical and operational vision and strategic roadmap for Technology, ensuring alignment with overall company strategy and leveraging deep expertise in systems, tools, and methodologies within the domain.
+ Build a simple, secure, and resilient technology ecosystem, combining built and bought solutions, to help teams deliver value to customers faster, more reliably, and with higher quality.
+ Develop and manage functional or departmental budgets, ensuring financial performance meets organizational standards. Foster a culture of leadership accountability for managing technology spend as a strategic and transparent investment portfolio, maximizing the value of every dollar.
+ Engage in vendor selection and negotiation processes, securing favorable contract terms to drive operational success and cost savings. Cultivate strategic partners who act as an extension of our team, helping us accelerate innovation, manage risk, and deliver value more effectively.
+ Oversee activities of a functional area or multiple departments through reports, leading teams to develop new methods and solve complex issues.
+ Create a data-driven culture of continuous improvement where success is measured by the tangible business outcomes we deliver. Ensure your teams predictably and sustainably deliver high-quality, valuable technology for our customers and users through a consistent framework with clear deliverables.
+ Build and maintain a strong organizational culture that attracts, retains, and develops top technical and operational talent across various Technology disciplines. Provide real-time coaching and constructive feedback to help others grow
What you'll bring to the table:
+ Exceptional leadership, strategic thinking, and organizational development skills, specifically within a broad Technology context.
+ Proven ability to lead and scale large, distributed Technology organizations spanning multiple disciplines.
+ Deep understanding of Technology operations, software engineering, advanced analytics, Technology governance, and other relevant Technology domains.
+ Strong business acumen with the ability to translate complex business needs into Technology strategies and actionable insights.
+ Excellent communication, presentation, negotiation, and influencing skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical and operational concepts and engage effectively at all levels, including executive leadership.
+ Demonstrated experience in managing large budgets, complex resource planning, and strategic vendor relationships.
+ The ability to act as a mentor by sharing expertise and experience.
+ Expertise in driving innovation and managing large-scale, complex Technology projects and programs from conception to delivery in an agile environment.
+ Ability to foster a strong, positive, and productive data-driven culture that champions knowledge sharing and continuous learning across diverse teams.
+ Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a data-driven approach to decision-making.
+ Extensive experience in talent management, including recruiting, developing, and retaining senior Technology leaders and managers.
+ Strong understanding of financial implications in decision-making, ensuring responsible use of company resources.
+ The ability to gather balanced feedback from a wide range of colleagues and stakeholders.
We'd love to hear from you if you have:
+ Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field (MBA or advanced technical degree is a plus).
+ Minimum of 12-15+ years of progressive professional Technology experience, with at least 5-7 years in senior leadership roles (e.g., Senior Manager, Director) managing large, multi-disciplinary teams and complex, strategic initiatives.
+ Demonstrable experience in setting and executing technical and operational strategy for a significant Technology function or domain.
+ Proven success in building, leading, and motivating high-performing technical and operational teams.
+ Extensive experience with agile/lean development practices and scaling them across multiple large teams or departments.
