POSITION NUMBER: 146246
This position serves as the district’s expert in the areas of permits and utilities with frequent consulting and advising with utilities owners and permit applicants. We are looking for an Engineering Technician Consultant that is self-motivated, able to perform tasks with minimal supervision and able to interpret unforeseen conditions as they may arise. Ensures that work has been completed according to DOTD policies and procedures, plans, and specifications.

Minimum Qualifications
Possession of a high school diploma or GED plus four years of sub-professional engineering experience; OR
Six months of experience in sub-professional engineering, heavy mobile equipment operation, or mobile equipment maintenance plus four years of sub-professional engineering experience; OR
Twenty-four semester hours in one of the following specialized fields: architecture, cartography, construction management, construction technology, drafting, engineering, engineering graphics, engineering technology, industrial technology, landscape architecture, math, or physics; OR
A bachelor's degree in engineering, engineering technology, construction management or construction technology.

Job Duties and Other Information
Job Duties:
+ Reviews project pipeline, utility, driveway, and geophysical permit applications submitted by the general public, governmental agencies, architects, and consulting engineers to determine compliance with DOTD guidelines and regulations.
+ Performs field inspection to verify location, depth, and alignment of needed drainage pipe for permit applications.
+ Inspects construction of driveways and other permitted construction within the R/W to ensure that the work is done in accordance with the approved permit and the R/W is left in a satisfactory condition.
+ Regularly meets with the Area Engineer to discuss constructability and maintenance related issues regarding permit applications.

Appointment Type: Probational or Promotional
Work Schedule: This position will work 40 hours per week. Schedule can be discussed.
