    JOB SUMMARY: This position is responsible for supervision of Infants ages 6 weeks up to 24 months and requires flexibility to work in all classrooms based off the needs of the center.

     

    Under general supervision, the Lead Teacher is responsible for planning and delivering classroom activities while ensuring a safe, healthy, and engaging environment for infants through constant supervision. The role includes preparing developmentally appropriate curriculum and materials, assessing individual and group needs, and promoting learning through exploration, problem-solving, and socialization. The Lead Teacher guides infant behavior positively, collaborates with and supports Assistant Teachers and staff, and helps monitor and train team members. Additional responsibilities include maintaining professionalism, sharing cleaning and sanitizing duties, reporting suspected child abuse, participating in trainings and meetings, engaging in self-assessment, and ensuring compliance with all licensing, health, safety, nutrition, and quality standards.

     

    KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE: Child Development Associate Certificate or College Degree preferred and 2 years’ experience in a licensed child care facility.

     

    Requires strong knowledge of childhood growth and development and the ability to apply early childhood development theory in daily practice while adapting to individual infant needs. The role calls for effective decision-making and problem-solving skills, strong teamwork and collaboration with staff, families, and community resources, and respectful, clear communication. Responsibilities also include consistent supervision of infants, ensuring a safe environment, and responding appropriately to situations in both classroom and outdoor settings.

     

    EDUCATION: Two years of experience in a licensed early childhood program required plus 32 hours of ECP training or Level 2 on the ECP Registry, and AHA Pediatric First Aid and CRP certified.

     

    LICENSE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY: This position must be at least 18 years old; American Heart Association Heart Saver CPR and Pediatric First Aid certification required to be completed in first 30 days of employment and to be kept current thereafter. Current on the Montana Early Childhood Project: Practitioner Registry within 15 days of hire required. Infant Safety Essentials within 30 days and Health and Safety Required Professional Development within 90 days of hire required. Complete mandatory 16 hour annual training and keep current all St Peter’s Health and State Child Care Licensing required immunizations required.

     

    APTITUDES: Demonstrates ability to handle multiples tasks and stressors effectively and efficiently. Demonstrates genuine interest and enjoyment of small children and the ability to stay calm in all situations and to respond to children in a quiet, reassuring manner. Demonsrates ability to exercise good judgement and critical thinking skills to ensure the safety and well being of children.
