China Research Intern PT – Defense (Remote/Hybrid)

We are actively seeking a China Research Intern to support open-source research and translation products relating to China's military, defense industrial base, technological development, and foreign policy.

Work Description:

China Research Interns at BluePath contribute to our research and translation work at all stages, including by performing administrative tasks, gathering data, conducting open-source research and analysis, editing reports, proofreading translations, generating data visualizations, and testing software tools. The role is primarily remote, but with a strong preference for candidates local to the DC area so they can join occasional in-person meetings and use equipment at our offices in Georgetown if needed.

Responsibilities: The China Research Intern will support tasks such as:

+ Open-source research

+ Translation work

+ Any other tasks as assigned

Minimum Requirements:

+ U.S. Citizen

+ Bachelor's Degree

+ Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a Master's or PhD program

+ Strong, near-native Chinese reading skills

+ Ability to work 15-25 hours per week on a flexible schedule

+ Ability to work independently

Preferred Experience:

+ Chinese-to-English translation experience

+ A record of publications related to China, especially related to defense and technology

+ Familiarity with Python and/or command line-based tools

+ Interest in data science and visualization

+ Time spent living in China
