Job Description
Insight Global’s client, a utilities company located in Newark, DE, is looking to hire a Senior Engineer to join their team. This is a permanent, full-time position with a hybrid work schedule (3 days in the office, 2 days remote) from 8am to 4:30pm. The position is 40% project management, 30% analysis (reviewing new data coming in and crunching numbers), 15% research and remaining 15% typically spent going out in the field/troubleshooting issues.
The Senior Engineer will be responsible for leading and managing engineering investigations, design, permitting, financial project management, and construction management for various water and wastewater facilities, including:
• Surface and ground water supply
• Water treatment
• Pumping and distribution facilities
• Wastewater collection, pumping, transmission, treatment, and disposal facilities
The Senior Engineer will study alternatives, conduct feasibility studies, and provide recommendations and engineering estimates for capital projects to improve facilities and system operations. They will also financially review and manage assigned capital projects on a weekly basis and provide technical assistance on capital projects involving multiple departments, serving as a technical resource for other members of the Engineering Group and company departments as needed.
Duties may include the following:
• Lead engineering projects from concept to completion, serving as the primary point of contact for project stakeholders. Develop project plans, schedules, and budgets, and oversee project execution to ensure milestones are achieved on time and within budget.
• Conduct technical reviews, analyses, and evaluations to ensure compliance with project requirements and industry standards.
• Develop designs for water and wastewater infrastructure including water supply, water treatment, water distribution, wastewater collection, wastewater treatment, and spray irrigation systems.
• Identify, assess, and mitigate technical risks associated with engineering projects, proactively implementing strategies to minimize potential impacts on project success.
• Monitor project performance and take corrective actions as needed to address emerging issues and deviations from established plans or budgets.
• Review and prepare project budgets and schedules. Provide pre-planning and resource forecasting for the engineering and operations departments relating to the projects.
• Supervise the preparation of Engineering drawings, specifications, and other documents.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Operations, Accounting, and Safety to align engineering activities with broader organizational objectives.
• Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders to foster collaboration and ensure alignment of project priorities.
• Collecting data, reducing data, analyzing alternative solutions, and then preparing and writing reports and design documents to support conclusions.
• Coordinate and manage aspects of construction projects submittals, deliverables, reviews, and approvals against contract requirements.
• Coordinate with the GIS and Survey departments to attain data (including but not limited to existing topographic and location information, boundary, and record plans, etc.) for planning, design and permitting of projects.
• Request and evaluate proposals from various consultants and contractors.
• Perform any and all other appropriate functions as required.
Compensation & Benefits:
Salary: $110,000 – $165,000 (based on experience and educational background)

Skills and Requirements
• 5 years of engineering (mechanical, electrical, environmental, or hydraulic) or project management experience
• Direct experience in the water/wastewater industry • Bachelor’s degree Engineering or a related field
• PE (Professional Engineer) license
• EIT (Engineer in Training) certification
