    Job Description

    The Telecommunications Technician will be responsible for the maintenance, installation, and troubleshooting of telecommunications equipment across Carlsbad, NM, and various sites within the district. This role requires strong problem-solving skills, technical expertise, and the ability to work independently while maintaining professionalism in all interactions. The ideal candidate will be paid anywhere from $32/hr to $37/hr while on contract.

    Skills and Requirements

     

    - Responsible for maintenance and installation of telecommunications equipment in Carlsbad, NM, and various telecommunication sites in the area and/or district.

     

    - Telecommunications equipment includes (but is not limited to): Microwave Radios, Industrial Wireless Systems, SCADA Communication Systems, VSAT, CDMA, Phone Systems, Digital Multiplexer, Office Networks (LAN/WAN), VHF Radio Systems, and associated equipment.

     

    -

     

    Apply problem-solving skills to break down complex issues, isolate outages, and restore services.

     

    -Utilize a ticketing system to document resolutions for outages, installations, and repairs.

     

    -Regularly interface with employees, management, vendors, and customers with tact, courtesy, and professionalism.

     

    -Schedule daily tasks for maximum efficiency and work with limited supervision.

     

    -Carry a company-provided cell phone and respond during and outside working hours.

     

    -Participate in callouts and unscheduled overtime as needed; may work non-traditional hours.

     

    -Maintain a high regard for personal safety, company assets, and public safety.

     

    -Maintain dependable attendance and high performance standards.

     

    -Communicate clearly in writing and verbally, including email correspondence.

     

    -Travel is required; a company vehicle will be provided.
