Job Description
In this role, you will act as the university’s senior AI product and technical leader, overseeing the day-to-day operation and advancement of the enterprise AI platform hosted in the university’s Microsoft Azure environment. You will manage and configure enterprise AI services and vendor relationships—including platforms such as Cloudforce nebulaONE and enterprise agreements with OpenAI, Anthropic, and Google—ensuring appropriate controls, security, and usage across the institution. A key part of your day will involve partnering with faculty, researchers, and administrative stakeholders to prioritize AI use cases, drive adoption, and enable responsible use through training, standards, and support. You will advise university technology leadership on the rapidly evolving generative AI landscape, helping shape strategic direction, platform roadmap decisions, and long-term investment priorities. This role collaborates closely with IT service teams including cloud enablement, identity and access management (IAM), service desk, training, and compliance functions to ensure smooth enterprise integration and support. Over time, you will help establish and guide a small central AI development function, initially leveraging part-time staff or students, while focusing primarily on governance, enablement, and platform evolution.

Skills and Requirements
5+ years of experience working with AI, data platforms, or emerging technologies in an enterprise environment
Demonstrated understanding of large language models (LLMs), generative AI capabilities, and enterprise AI deployment considerations
Experience working with cloud-hosted platforms, with a strong preference for Microsoft Azure–based environments
Proven ability to serve as a technical product owner or architecture lead, balancing business needs, vendor capabilities, risk, and user adoption
Experience coordinating and prioritizing multiple initiatives across diverse stakeholder groups
Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, including the ability to explain AI concepts and tradeoffs to non-technical audiences
Experience collaborating with cross-functional IT teams such as security, IAM, service desk, or training functions Experience in product management, platform ownership, or service delivery for enterprise technology offerings
Familiarity with higher education environments, shared governance models, and diverse user communities
Experience with enterprise SaaS platforms and vendor management, including contract discussions, licensing, and usage governance
Knowledge of responsible AI practices, data privacy, accessibility, and compliance considerations (e.g., FERPA, security reviews)
Experience leading or supporting large-scale technology rollouts with a focus on user enablement and change management
Experience advising senior leadership on emerging technology trends, maturity assessments, and strategic planning
Prior experience enabling or overseeing small technical teams, student contributors, or distributed development efforts
