Job Summary
The Sr. Director of Retail Technology – Customer Applications is a strategic and hands-on leader responsible for shaping the digital foundation of Vistra’s retail business. You’ll connect marketing, operations, data, and technology to design and deliver customer-facing systems that power acquisition, engagement, and retention across multiple retail brands. This role is both visionary and practical: you’ll set the long-term architecture and roadmap while guiding teams through real-world delivery and continuous improvement. It’s about building a future-ready technology ecosystem that keeps pace with how customers live, shop, and interact today.
Job Description
+ Lead modernization of customer-facing platforms by evolving legacy systems into flexible, cloud-native, API-driven architectures designed to support agentic AI, enabling faster delivery, greater scale, and more intelligent customer experiences.
+ Translate strategy into action by developing and executing a three-year technology roadmap aligned with Vistra Retail’s business and growth objectives.
+ Drive cross-functional alignment across business, digital, data, and IT partners to ensure priorities, investments, and outcomes move together.
+ Champion customer-centric technology that enhances acquisition, self-service, and retention across digital and mobile experiences.
+ Cultivate a high-performing, agile organization focused on accountability, collaboration, and technical excellence.
+ Partner with technology vendors and integrators to evaluate, negotiate, and deliver solutions that balance innovation with stability and cost-effectiveness.
+ Promote architectural best practices that future-proof systems through modular design, cloud scalability, and secure, efficient data flow.
+ Manage and deliver secure, reliable, efficient, and effective business technology services
Education, Experience, & Skill Requirements
+ Bachelor’s degree with 10 or more years of relevant business experience with at least 15 years specific to systems planning, design, and implementation;
+ Subject matter expertise:
+ Customer facing large scale digital/website/mobile (shopping, ecommerce, service, etc).
+ Digital/Website/Mobile Technologies (Sitecore, Adobe, SAP Commerce, etc)
+ Marketing Technologies (Adobe, Salesforce, Hubspot, etc)
+ Experience modernizing legacy ecommerce/commerce/digital/mobile engines into cloud-native, API-first platforms.
+ Proven management and leadership skills for large, enterprise-wide initiatives
+ Experience leading enterprise-scale technology initiatives in complex environments.
+ Experience managing vendor partnerships, technology budgets, and contract negotiations.
+ Superior collaboration, communication, interpersonal, and negotiating skills
+ Proven ability to connect business needs to technical solutions, guiding teams through both strategy and execution.
+ Strong leadership skills with experience developing and inspiring teams through transformation.
+ Exceptional communication and relationship-building abilities; credible across executives, engineers, and business partners.

+ Customer Satisfaction – Call Centers and Web/Mobile
+ Project Delivery – Defined defect rates, on budget delivery of project, on schedule delivery of project, business satisfaction score with project delivery (to business requirements and outcomes)
+ Operations / Systems Availability - % Systems Availability as defined by standard practice
+ Recruiting – Ability to recruit and on-board the right resources in timely manner
