    Position Description:

    Lancaster, Pennsylvania (USA). The Department of Pathology at Penn Medicine - Lancaster General Health is seeking an excellent BC/BE anatomic/clinical pathologist with Hematopathology fellowship training to join a diverse group of 8 pathologists, one clinical chemist and one clinical microbiologist.

     

    Lancaster General is a 631-bed not-for-profit health system that partners with the Penn Medicine system to bring together the strengths of our nationally recognized community healthcare system and a world-renowned academic medical center. We have an active and growing cancer program at our Cancer Center with increasing hematopathology cases, including bone marrows, lymphomas, and peripheral blood malignancy. We interpret flows performed by our in-house flow cytometry department on body fluids, peripheral blood, bone marrows, and lymphomas.

     

    The position requires a candidate with Hematopathology fellowship training and an interest in doing general surgical pathology. The current schedule design involves rotating every 2-4 weeks between the hematopathology service, which is shared with two other hematopathologists, and the surgical pathology service.

    Position Requirements

    + Medical degree (MD or DO) from an accredited institution

    + AP/CP Board certification or eligibility

    + Hematopathology fellowship training required

    + Pennsylvania medical license or eligibility required.

    + Lancaster General Health and our outpatient locations are not designated as MUA/P (Medically Underserved Areas/Populations) or HPSA locations.

     

    Yearly workload in anatomic pathology (approximate numbers): 26,600 surgicals, 2,600 non-GYN cytologies and 13,000 Pap smears. Hematopathology cases are 560+ bone marrows and over 700 flow cytometry cases, including blood and tissue diagnoses. Lancaster is a diverse population of approximately 500,000 in the metropolitan area. Lancaster has an active downtown city with many restaurants and coffee shops. Located in south central Pennsylvania, Lancaster is in close driving distance to Philadelphia, Baltimore and Washington, D.C. and a slightly longer drive or short train ride to New York City.
