    Provide clinical and administrative nursing leadership with focused efforts on planning, organizing, directing, evaluating,

     

    and improving overall healthcare operations and clinical education programs.     Major/Essential Functions:

    + Ensure performance expectations are clearly understood. Hold staff accountable to meet or exceed patient needs and maintain collaboration and respect within multidisciplinary teams. Actively seek staff participation in decision-making and patient care improvement.

    + Complete all staff evaluations (30-60-90 day, annual, etc.) by required deadlines with clear written justification and examples. Manage individual talents, strengths, and behaviors while supporting staff contribution to clinic/unit goals.

    + In collaboration with Human Resources, make timely recommendations regarding hiring, promotion, transfer, and disciplinary actions in accordance with TTUS Regulations, HSCEP OPs, and standard HR practices.

    + Participate in development of the unit operating budget, staffing plans, equipment and furniture purchases/replacement, service contract review, and planning for new supply costs.

    + Maintain strong knowledge and understanding of reimbursement and revenue cycle processes for assigned clinical units.

    + Partner with Clinical Administration Strategic Sourcing to manage inventory levels, monitor supply usage, and develop cost-containment strategies.

    + Provide leadership to establish and maintain efficient clinical nursing systems ensuring optimal patient outcomes. Identify inefficiencies and support process improvement while demonstrating tolerance for change.

    + Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and leadership to formulate, review, and revise ambulatory policies; ensure compliance with standards of care; and assess care coordination to support continuity and customer service.

    + Ensure assigned clinics/units are audit and compliance ready at all times, including workspace, staffing, education, competencies, and current policies/procedures.

    + Monitor patient volume and changes in population, acuity, and complexity. Develop strategies to ensure quality and patient satisfaction metrics are achieved.

    + Interpret, communicate, implement, and monitor goals and objectives outlined in institutional, departmental, and unit strategic plans.

    + Facilitate multidisciplinary involvement in clinical problem identification and resolution, using HR data and budget information to develop recommendations for leadership.

    + Build and maintain positive working relationships across institutional levels and care teams; effectively resolve conflict; and collaborate with community partners.

    + Educate and mentor staff in managing complex patient care issues.

    + Actively participate in and support healthcare student education.

    + Engage in continuous learning and professional skill development.

    + Participate in benchmarking with similar practice sites to identify and implement best practices.

    + Support integration of quality management and evidence-based nursing practices.

    + Remain current with all licensure, certifications, and mandatory training requirements for the position.

    + Adhere to all state, federal, and accreditation standards, policies, and procedures (Regents Rules, TTUS, HSCEP OPs, etc.).

    Required Qualifications:

    + Bachelor of Science Nursing (BSN) is required.

    + Masters degree in Nursing (MSN) or related field preferred.

    + Minimum 3 years of providing direct nursing care in related clinical setting/unit within the past 6 months.

    + Minimum 1 year of leadership experience to include direct supervision and performance management of staff.

    + Current and valid certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross required by start date.

    + Current and valid license to practice registered nursing in Texas is required by start date.
