Assistant, Associate, or Professor (Clinical), (Clinical) Track, Career-line Position
The Department of Physical Therapy and Athletic Training is seeking an experienced and established faculty candidate for their CAATE accredited Athletic Training program. The position is a full-time (1.0 FTE ), (Clinical) Track, Career-line faculty appointment and will also serve as Associate Director of Clinical Education. Rank will be commensurate with academic and clinical experience.
The University of Utah’s Master of Athletic Training program is launching a hybrid MAT degree pathway in the summer of 2027. This position will be assigned to the residential pathway on the Salt Lake City campus. However, they will work closely with the Director of Clinical Education, who is assigned to the hybrid pathway. Together, both faculty members will oversee a comprehensive clinical education program that facilitates collaboration with local and national clinical sites and preceptors.
Primary Responsibilities
* Manage clinical education within the Athletic Training program, which may include:
o Manage and facilitate ongoing development of student competencies and skills assessed during clinical education experiences.
o Collect and analyze data associated with clinical education, including student and preceptor evaluations.
o Manage preceptor training and evaluations.
o Assign students to clinical education experiences and manage clinical sites.
* Teach within the Athletic Training program, based on area of expertise.
* Mentor athletic training students.
* Perform service, as appropriate, to the department, college, university, profession, and community.
Preferred Qualifications:
* At least 2 years of teaching experience in a CAATE accredited program
* Successful completion of accredit residency program.
Required Qualifications:
* Terminal Degree: academic (PhD, EdD, ScD) or clinical ( DAT )
* Possess certification as an Athletic Trainer from the Board of Certification ( BOC )
* Eligible for licensure as an athletic trainer in the State of Utah
* Active National Provider Identification ( NPI ) number
* At least 3 years of clinical athletic training experience

About the Department of Physical Therapy & Athletic Training
The Department of Physical Therapy and Athletic Training is home to three degree offerings (a DPT Program with three pathways, a PhD in Rehabilitation Sciences, and a MAT Program) and post-professional Physical Therapy Residencies. The Department resides within the College of Health and is part of the University of Utah Health. The University of Utah is a member of the Association of American Universities. University of Utah Health is the primary educational, research, and referral facility serving the medical needs of Utah and the Intermountain West; therefore, opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration are abundant.
