    Job Summary

The Division of Vascular Surgery is seeking a patient-focused, self-motivated Advanced Practice Clinician (NP/PA) to join our growing vein-care program. This full-time position is primarily outpatient and involves providing comprehensive care for patients with venous disease, including new patient evaluations, return visits, procedural consents, longitudinal follow-up, and optional participation in vein procedures. The ideal candidate works effectively in a collaborative team environment, communicates clearly, and demonstrates a commitment to high-quality, evidence-based care.

As part of a world-class institution with excellent benefits, our APCs have ongoing educational opportunities—including weekly vascular-focused conferences—and access to research, quality improvement, and project involvement.

The Vascular Surgery group includes 7 faculty surgeons, 2 fellows, and 9 APCs. This APC role will be integrated into our outpatient vein program rather than the 24/7 inpatient coverage team. Candidates with interest in procedural participation (such as assisting with endovenous ablations, sclerotherapy, or other office-based vein interventions) will have opportunities for progressive skill development.

In addition to direct patient care, intermittent teaching interaction with residents, medical students, and APC students may be expected, along with participation in team meetings, conferences, and special projects.

This position is considered Category I: Mandatory and required on-campus or in clinic to support on-site operations. Employees hired into this category must be physically present at the work location if healthy and without COVID -19 symptoms.

    Responsibilities

+ Conduct comprehensive assessments of new and established vein-care patients through history-taking and physical examination.

+ Formulate care plans based on patient condition, diagnostic findings, and evidence-based vein-care guidelines.

+ Obtain informed consent for office-based venous procedures and counsel patients on expectations, risks, alternatives, and postoperative care.

+ Order, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic studies—such as venous duplex ultrasound—to support diagnosis and treatment planning.

+ Manage follow-up care for patients undergoing vein-related interventions, including wound checks, symptom monitoring, and medical optimization.

+ Collaborate closely with supervising physicians regarding treatment plans and escalations of care.

+ Participate in office-based vein procedures if desired and credentialed, with skill development supported by the Division and Continuing Medical Education.

+ Provide patient education on venous disease, conservative management strategies, and long-term vein health.

+ Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant documentation within the medical record.

+ Contribute to quality improvement initiatives and standardization of vein-care protocols.

+ Participate in clinic operations and team meetings to ensure smooth workflow and excellent patient experience.
