The responsibilities of a Software Development Engineer in test include automating the testing process by fusing software development and quality assurance expertise. SDETs write code to build automated test scripts and frameworks, work with developers to integrate quality into the development lifecycle, and ensure software is robust, reliable, and performs well. Designing and carrying out test plans, analyzing test results, and working with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality software releases are some of the main duties.
To be successful as an SDET, you should have excellent time management and organizational skills as well as strong communication skills. You should have a passion for designing, development, and testing and the ability to upgrade your technical skills within the constantly changing technology sector.
• Create and maintain automated tests:
Design, develop, and execute automated test scripts and frameworks to streamline the testing process.
Setting up, maintaining, and performing test automation frameworks on multiple application platforms, such as mobile and web, and building test scenarios and acceptance tests.
• Collaborate with developers:
Understanding the design, flow of code, and how it interacts with different components.
Understanding project documents, customer demands, and product objectives to create and execute test cases.
• Develop test tools:
Build custom tools and frameworks to address unique testing challenges and improve test efficiency.
• Perform various types of testing:
Conduct functional, regression, performance, and security testing to ensure software meets quality standards.
• Analyze and report on results:
Analyze test results, report bugs and errors using bug tracking tools, and prepare test reports.
Investigating customer problems referred to you by the support team, testing bugs, and creating and managing bug reports.
• Contribute to the development process:
Participate in the planning and design phases of the software development lifecycle and help ensure the final product meets customer expectations.
• Additional Skills
Knowledge of the telematics domain, connected vehicle data, and connected vehicle systems. Automation of UI and API services and automated hardware testing
You'll have...
+ A Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, similar degree or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
+ 3+ years of backend software engineering experience in Java, Spring Boot and Kotlin
+ 2+ years of experience with GCP, Azure or AWS

This position is a range of salary grades 6-8 .

This position is hybrid. Candidates who are in commuting distance to a Ford hub location will be required to be onsite four or more days per week.
