    THOR Solutions is actively seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to support Landing Craft Air Cushion (LCAC) Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Navigation & Electrical (C4N&E) and Cybersecurity activities at Naval Surface Warfare Center Panama City Division (NSWC PCD) in Panama City, FL. An ideal candidate will have extensive experience with embedded systems and software, systems architecting, and applied systems engineering in a U.S. Navy, DoD, or similar professional environment.

    Typical Responsibilities:

    + Develop embedded systems using Versa Module Europa (VME), CompaqPCI, PC-104, and small form factor black box architectures.

    + Develop software for embedded systems using VxWorks, RedHat Linux, and Microsoft Windows

    + Develop system architectures using Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) principles, including the creation of system models, diagrams, documentation, and processes using Cameo Enterprise Architecture MBSE tool.

    + Use the MIL-STD-1553C interface.

    + Conduct analysis of alternatives for potential solutions to system issues and enhancements to provide recommendations for Government approval.

    + Provide technical support of Ultra High Frequency (UHF) /Very High Frequency (VHF) /High Frequency (HF) communication systems.

    + Ensure external interfaces match the specification, including voltage level and timing.

    + Simulate the design at various levels to include Computer Aided Design (CAD) modeling for all system and subsystem components.

    + Develop navigation requirements.

    + Provide technical support of network systems, Modbus and Modbus Transmission Control Protocol (TCP), Controller Area Network bus (CANbus), and fly-by-wire control systems.

    + Knowledge of Integrated Flight Control Systems and the application of sensor technologies in military applications,

    + Develop Printed Circuit Board (PCB)designs.

    + Provide technical support of applied systems engineering in the application of marine and aircraft state-of-the art systems engineering disciplines to the system design.

    + Provide technical support in developing embedded systems that meet environmental requirements for military use.

    + Utilize No Magic Cameo Enterprise Architecture MBSE tool for systems architecting and documentation.

     

    Typical Physical Activity: Desk work in an office or lab environment. Position includes interacting with personnel who work in office, lab, and shipboard environments, and may be required to traverse those environments. May include: repetitive motion, traversing ladders and inclines/declines, climbing/crawling/navigating tight/confined shipboard spaces, working from kneeling/prone positions, frequent standing/kneeling, and working in hot workspaces due to sun, environment, and heat-radiating equipment.

     

    Travel Requirements: This position is anticipated to require up to 20% travel, including overseas travel.

     

    Existing SECRET Security Clearance Required: This position requires an existing active or interim Secret security clearance prior to hire. Only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance; therefore, only current U.S. citizens will be considered for this position. An otherwise strongly qualified candidate with highly relevant experience but no current security clearance may be considered.

    Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

    + Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited college or university in a relevant field, such as: Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or Marine Engineering.

    + INCOSE Certified Systems Engineering Professional (CSEP).

    + Proof of current certification will be requested during the hiring process.

    + At least eight (8) years of progressively responsible professional experience in applied systems engineering.

    + Including at least six (6) years of experience developing embedded systems using Versa Module Europa (VME) architectures, CompaqPCI architectures, and/or PC-104 architectures.

    + Demonstrated experience in the application of marine and aircraft state-of-the-art systems engineering disciplines to system design.

    + Experience developing embedded systems that meet environmental requirements for military use.

    + System modeling: using Object Management Group (OMG) standards and tools.
