JOB SUMMARY: The Technology Specialist provides technical support, maintenance, and repair of district technology systems and instructional equipment in a digital learning environment. This position supports students and staff by troubleshooting hardware, software, and audiovisual systems; managing device inventory; and assisting with the deployment and maintenance of district technology resources.
QUALIFICATIONS
+ High School diploma or equivalent
+ Associate’s degree in information technology or a related field preferred
+ Minimum of four years of experience in a technology support role
+ Valid Iowa driver’s license and ability to operate a motor vehicle
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES
+ Configure, enroll, assign, inventory, and support student and staff devices, including iPads and computers.
+ Collaborate with teachers to promptly assess and address instructional technology needs.
+ Diagnose and resolve software issues; install, image, update, and maintain operating systems and applications on lab and classroom computers, including PLTW and Business lab images.
+ Diagnose and repair hardware issues, replacing internal components (hard drives, memory, batteries) and external peripherals (keyboards, mice).
+ Support and maintain instructional technology, including interactive flat panels, projectors, and audiovisual systems; assist staff with operation and troubleshooting.
+ Program and manage audiovisual switchers and inputs; replace projector lamps, filters and units as needed.
+ Maintain and troubleshoot printers and print servers, including toner replacement, jam resolution, network configuration, and queue management.
+ Provide technical assistance for computers, peripherals, and audiovisual equipment in classrooms, labs, and offices.
+ Repair equipment in-house or coordinate transport to outside repair facilities.
+ Perform routine cleaning, diagnostics, and preventive maintenance on district technology equipment.
+ Order, receive, inventory and stock technology equipment, supplies, and replacement parts.
+ Unpack, inspect, test, tag and prepare new equipment for deployment.
+ Maintain accurate records of work orders, repairs, inventory, and equipment histories.
+ Maintain working knowledge of network operating systems and basic WAN/LAN functionality.
+ Assist with the installation and deployment of new software, systems, and upgrades.
+ Engage in professional development to stay current with areas of responsibility.
+ Complete required training.
OTHER FUNCTIONS
+ Collaborate with technology colleagues to share best practices and troubleshoot challenges.
+ Perform other related duties, as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
+ Thorough knowledge of computer and mobile operating systems (Windows, macOS, iOS, Android), device management systems, and basic networking concepts
+ Proficient in Google Workspace, Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Creative Suite/Cloud
+ Excellent communication, collaboration, and customer service skills
+ Excellent troubleshooting and prompt resolution skills
+ Ability to organize, prioritize, and document technical work
+ Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORK ENVIRONMENT
+ Frequent sitting, standing, walking
+ Moderate climbing, squatting, crouching, kneeling, bending and reaching above shoulder
+ Able to lift and carry up to 25 lbs., push and pull up to 50 lbs.
+ Able to travel within district
+ Primarily an indoor work environment in an office or school setting
+ Occasional exposure to outdoor weather conditions and electrical hazards
