The primary responsibility of this position is to determine the equipment and methodology in food manufacturing/packaging controls systems to ensure quality, cost and efficiency requirements are met. Troubleshoots existing manufacturing/controls functions and processes. Research and specify new equipment and upgrades to existing equipment. Manage the controls design and implementation. Other responsibilities may include improvements for efficiencies. May manage controls staff.

Job Description:
**Schedule:** Monday- Friday, working 7am-5pm with flexibility as needed to meet plant needs including night and weekend hours
**Location:** 1 Quality Place, Buckner, KY 40010

**Salary, based on experience and other qualifications:** $73k -$124k annually with additional bonus potential
Essential Functions, Duties and Responsibilities:
+ Responsible for designing control systems to regulate the behavior of dynamic systems. This involves analyzing system requirements, developing mathematical models, and designing control algorithms to achieve desired performance objectives.
+ Implement control algorithms in software or hardware components, such as PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers) or microcontrollers appropriate to our organization and growth opportunities.
+ Responsible for conducting testing and simulations to validate the performance of control systems and fine-tuning controller parameters to optimize system response and ensure stability and robustness.
+ Responsible for monitoring system performance using feedback from sensors and other data sources to maintain optimal operation.
+ Responsible for diagnosing the problems and implementing corrective actions to restore normal operation.
+ Collaborate with other engineering disciplines to integrate control systems into larger systems and processes to ensure seamless communication and coordination between different components of the overall machines/systems.
+ Prioritize safety considerations in their designs and implementations, ensuring that control systems meet regulatory standards and safety requirements.
+ Maintain detailed documentation of control system designs, configurations, and changes for reference and future troubleshooting.
+ As technology or needs evolve, manage upgrading control systems and incorporating new features or enhancements to improve system performance.
+ Responsible for project management responsibilities, coordinating control system integration, testing, and commissioning in larger engineering projects.
+ May manage controls staff.
+ Safely and accurately perform all duties as required for this position to ensure the safety and quality of our products.
+ All other duties as assigned.
Knowledge and Critical Skill Requirements:
+ Bachelor’s degree in Controls, Advanced Manufacturing, Electrical or related preferred
+ Minimum 7 years related experience.
+ Minimum 5 years manufacturing experience. Experience in the food industry a plus.
+ Demonstrated participative management skills.
+ Proven proficient electrical, PLC skillset.
+ Good organization skills.
+ Practical experience in the use of spreadsheet, statistics, and wording processing.
+ Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Physical Demands:
+ Job function requires prolong use of a computer in an office environment with frequent work in a plant environment.
+ Must be able to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.
+ Must be able to perform the following: standing, climbing, pulling, and or pushing, carrying, grasping, reaching, twisting, turning, and stooping.
+ Ability to walk and/or stand for extended periods of time.
+ Good physical condition with the ability to lift to 50 lbs. frequently.
+ Good hand/eye coordination, motor skills, 20/20 corrected vision and hearing within the normal range. Environmental, Health and Safety Requirements:
+ Must wear all required personal protection equipment associated with specific manufacturing work environment and job duties as stated in the Employee Handbook, posted policies, or as assigned by leadership personnel.
+ Maintain clean and safe working environment and follow all safety policies and procedures, such as lock out/tag out, safe lifting techniques, and all others as instructed.
+ Inform Management of any food safety or quality issues or of any processes which become noncompliant with specified requirements.
+ Notify supervision of any repairs or adjustments that are required.
+ Understand, observe, and comply with the handling and usage of the color-coded container policy while in the Production Areas.
+ Perform all duties necessary to meet Company, Customer and/or Government requirements/standards as prioritized by the Company.
+ Ability to initiate action to prevent the occurrence of nonconformities relating to Food Safety and the Quality of the product, processes, quality system, or safety system.
+ Identify and record any problems relating to Food Safety and the Quality of the ingredients, processes, quality system, or safety system.
+ Controls further processing or delivery of nonconforming product in terms of Food Safety and Quality issues until the deficiency or unsatisfactory condition has been corrected.
