Description:
Schedule: Full Time Days
Required: PA Speech and Language Pathologist License
+ Provides supervision for students and volunteers as required.
+ Maintains safe/orderly working environment for patients and staff.
+ Adheres to the code of ethics of the American Speech and Hearing Association and the Practice Act of the Commonwealth of PA.
+ Completes all documentation according to departmental policy and regulatory standards.
+ Develops a comprehensive plan of care and provides treatment with appropriate and effective techniques to achieve established goals with an emphasis on functional status
+ Assumes accountability for managing the delivery of patient care.
+ Interprets and utilizes clinical data in the treatment plan.
+ Performs and interprets modified barium swallow studies according to policy
+ Performs and interprets blue dye testing according to policy (i.e. tracheotomy and ventilator
+ Assesses current swallowing function in a variety of settings
+ Recommends specific safe swallowing precautions
+ Recommends diet according to patient needs
+ Progresses patient diet according to policy
+ Collaborates with patient/significant others when establishing goals and treatment plan.
+ Participates in the orientation and training of other healthcare team members
+ Incorporates education into daily patient activity, and individualizes educational plan based on patient's needs.
