    Job Title: Civil Construction Instructor

     

    Status: Part-Time

     

    Hours: Tuesday and Thursday, 6:00-9:00 p.m.

     

    Pay/Salary: $35.00–$37.00 hourly

    Summary

    As an Instructor for the Civil Construction Program, you will play a crucial role in the education and training of the next generation of Civil Construction experts. This role is perfect for a current construction professional, such as a superintendent or construction manager. You will deliver an established, hands-on curriculum designed to prepare students for immediate employment in the civil construction industry.     What You'll Do:

    Responsibilities of the Substitute Civil Construction Instructor include, but are not limited to:

    + Deliver and enhance the existing comprehensive curriculum, with a focus on hands-on competencies.

    + Assess and mentor students to ensure they gain the necessary skills and knowledge for successful careers in civil construction.

    + Utilize lesson plans and performance evaluations to enhance learning in the classroom and lab settings.

    + Emphasize safety practices as a core component of daily instruction.

    + Provide regular feedback and support to students, fostering their success.

    + Ensure the cleanliness and maintenance of the classroom and labs.

    + Stay current with advancements in the civil construction industry and participate in professional development opportunities.

    + Promote the Civil Construction program to attract potential students.

    + Dedication to student success and professional standards.

    What We're Looking For:

    We're seeking professionals who are passionate about teaching and committed to excellence. Successful candidates will have:

     

    + Education: A high school diploma or the equivalent is required.

    + Experience: A minimum of five years, ten preferred, of journey-level experience in civil construction.

    + Expertise: Expertise in measurements, soils, earthwork, utilities, and construction safety procedures.

    + Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, etc.) and Google Suite tools (Docs, Sheets, Slides, etc.). Experience with Canvas and curriculum development is a plus.

    + Organizational Abilities: Strong skills in communication, time management, and organization to efficiently manage classroom and practical training responsibilities.

    + Attention to Detail: A keen ability to assess student performance, ensure industry standards are met, and maintain accurate records.

    + Professionalism: Ability to teach effectively and interact professionally with students, parents, and industry representatives.
