    Salary: $20.25/Hour Minimum

    Report Times: 7:00am - 3:30pm

    Daily Hours: 8.5 (8 Paid)

     

    Work Year: 39 Weeks

    Civil Service Title: Senior Security Worker

    Minimum Requirements:

    Graduation from high school or possession of an equivalency diploma, plus two (2) years paid full-time or its part-time equivalent experience in an occupation involved with the enforcement of peace and order such as guard, police officer, forest ranger, or armored vehicle guard.

     

    SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Current registration as a Security Guard with the New York State Department of State.

     

    If you are appointed you will be required to possess a valid license to operate a motor vehicle in New York State or otherwise demonstrate your capacity to meet the transportation needs of the position.

    Desired Qualifications:

    Experience working with teenagers;

     

    CPR/AED certification or willingness to be certified;

     

    Ability to work with groups of students, staff and public;

     

    Previous work experience as a security worker.

    Position Summary/Responsibilities:

    Supervises building security staff responsible for the safety/security of the buildings and grounds of a school complex;

     

    Ensures the safety of students, staff and visitors;

     

    Contacts security staff to fill work assignments;

     

    Conducts periodic rounds, checks for fire and accident hazards, makes sure all windows, doors, and entrances to the building are closed and locked;

     

    Prevents admittance to the premises of unauthorized persons;

     

    Monitors disruptive behavior;

     

    Monitors vehicle and personnel movement on property;

     

    Assists local fire department with fire alarms and bomb scares;

     

    Prepares reports and maintains records of activities conducted;

     

    Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
