Injection Molding Process Engineer — Job DescriptionJob Summary
The Injection Molding Process Engineer is responsible for developing injection‑molding processes and products to support new product launches and optimizing existing molding processes. This person will be working closely with Product Development Engineering, Mold Development Team, Production, Manufacturing Engineering, Supply Chain, Quality, and the Sales team to facilitate the release of new products into production and changes to existing products as process improvements. This person is expected to foster a positive and professional work environment that is fully committed to continuous improvement and lean principles.
Duties and Responsibilities
+ Collaborate with Product Development, Mold Development, Production, Quality, and Supply Chain to meet launch and production timelines and cost targets
+ Lead the remediation and process improvements of the molding operations
+ Work with our Mold Development team to fabricate molds and tooling for prototype needs, launches, and production
+ Validate (IQ/OQ/PQ) production processes to meet customer requirements for technical specifications and quality
+ Work with Production and Manufacturing Engineering to develop systems to optimize production efficiency and reduce downstream manual processes
+ Lead CAPA and NCMR investigations related to injection molding processes and develop systems and processes that improve quality
+ Ensure that the molding operations are kept clean and well organized in line with lean principles
+ Complies with all quality policies, specifications, regulations and instructions
+ Communicates thoughts and ideas, both verbally and in writing, to co‑workers and management
+ Attends meetings and actively participates by providing meaningful input
+ Able to attend team, customer, and company meetings
+ Communicates honestly, professionally and respectfully with others and demonstrates effective listening skills
+ Reads and interprets blueprints and solid models
+ Publish weekly metrics of output/performance
Skills, Knowledge and Experience
+ 10+ years manufacturing experience with at least 5 years’ experience in injection molding process development and improvement in an ISO 13485 environment
+ Experience with Master Unit Die (MUD) frame and insert systems for rapid changeover, setup, and maintenance
+ Experience with thermoplastics (Polypropylene, Nylon, PEEK, and other high temperature, fiber reinforced resins)
+ Experience with Scientific Injection Molding Principles
+ Design of injection molds and fixtures
+ Experience with LEAN manufacturing
+ Possess process engineering, process development, troubleshooting, data analysis, root cause analysis skills
+ Good knowledge of MS Office
+ High level of attention to detail and mechanical aptitude
+ Cross‑functional business team environment experience preferred
+ Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to present findings and recommendations to a group
+ Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline or related field preferred
Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is frequently exposed to a variety of varying weather conditions, trash, waste, chemicals and other materials. The noise level in the work environment and facility grounds can be loud. In some situations, employee may need to work in front of a workstation or desk for several hours at a time; analyzing data or creating reports.
Physical Demands
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk, see and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling and climbing all day. The employee must frequently lift up to 40 pounds or move items over 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $100000.00 - $125000.00/yr.
