Job Title: Tooling DesignerJob Description

The Tooling Designer will undertake both re-engineering and full design projects in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, primarily supporting automotive industry clients. The role involves managing multiple projects simultaneously, ranging from designing automated tooling to creating gages, check fixtures, weld fixtures, robotic projects, and assembly stations.

Responsibilities

+ Utilize SolidWorks software to complete designs from start to finish, including creating 3D models and 2D prints for manufacturing.

+ Use Product Data Management (PDM) for document management and file saving.

+ Select appropriate mechanical parts for projects, such as bolt or cylinder sizes.

+ Use JBA as a search tool for job reference and print or review job requirements for specific design needs.

+ Manage workload based on project due dates and schedule progress meetings with sales, controls engineers, and tool makers.

Essential Skills

+ Proficiency in Tooling Design and SolidWorks.

+ Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).

+ At least 2 years of experience in designing automated tooling, gages, check fixtures, weld fixtures, robotic projects, and assembly stations.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

+ Experience with Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and AutoCAD.

+ Familiarity with the automotive field and document management software.

+ Experience with automated machine design.

Work Environment

Hours: 55 hours per week, which will continue through the first quarter of 2026 due to high workload demands.. hours will typically reduce to 40-45 hours per week thereafter.

Designers have the option to work more hours if desired, and have the flexibility to work Saturdays if it fits their schedule better.

--Start time is no later than 8 AM, with a flexible schedule option available.

There is an opportunity to learn from experienced designers, with a flexible paid time off (PTO) policy that increases with tenure.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Greenville, MI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $40.00/hr.
