As a Resident Project Representative, you will play a crucial role in overseeing and evaluating construction work on multidiscipline projects such as pump stations, water treatment plants (WTP), and wastewater treatment plants (WWTP). Your responsibilities will include field visits to job sites to ensure compliance with contract documents, coordination of material testing, monitoring construction schedules, and preparing accurate reports and project records.
Responsibilities
+ Conduct field visits to job sites to observe and evaluate construction work.
+ Coordinate and oversee material testing on soil, concrete, bituminous, and aggregate materials.
+ Monitor construction schedules and activities for compliance with contract documents.
+ Preliminarily approve payment estimates prepared by contractors.
+ Produce thorough, accurate, and concise quantities, daily reports, and related documents.
+ Organize and process project records efficiently.
+ Monitor site safety of personnel and ensure compliance with specifications.
+ Assist Project Managers in preparing Request for Quotations, Change Orders, and Request for Information.
+ Process project records on computers, including materials generated by others.
+ Observe and document individual equipment startups for compliance with contract documents.
+ Make informed decisions based on previous experience when appropriate.
+ Attend and facilitate preconstruction meetings and progress review meetings.
+ Communicate effectively and respectfully with staff, contractors, clients, and the public.
Essential Skills
+ 7+ years of experience as a Resident Field Representative, Construction Inspector, Construction Observer, or Site Engineer.
+ 3+ years of experience with water/wastewater plants, treatment plants, CSO facilities, and/or pump stations.
+ Ability to read and interpret construction documents, plans, and specifications.
+ Proficiency in report writing.
+ Strong skills in Excel and Word.
+ Clean driving record.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Civil Engineering or similar degree (bonus).
+ 10+ years of experience (bonus).
+ Experience with Procore (bonus).
Work Environment
This position involves working primarily in the field, with projects located in Oakland County and potentially Genessee County, as well as other areas within the state. You will be in the field 90% of the time and will have access to a work truck or can expense mileage using your own vehicle. The work schedule is typically Monday through Friday, 8-10 hour days, with occasional Saturdays if projects are behind schedule. This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Bloomfield Hills, MI.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $48.00/hr.
