Job Description
As a Service Technician, you will play a crucial role in starting up, commissioning, and re-commissioning customer systems that utilize Direct Digital Control (DDC) technology. You will provide mid-level solutions to system problems, work with subcontractors and other trades to ensure proper operation, and deliver turnkey projects on a small scale. You will be responsible for total system operations, including setting up trends, alarms, and reports, as well as conducting site-specific training for operators.
Responsibilities
+ Start up, commission, and re-commission customer systems using DDC technology.
+ Provide solutions to mid-level systems problems and assist others with troubleshooting.
+ Ensure proper operation by working with subcontractors and other trades.
+ Deliver turnkey projects on small scale (80 or less budgeted hours).
+ Complete all required commissioning documentation and maintain accurate As-Built drawing packages.
+ Complete paperwork including time sheets, expense reports, and project status reports on time.
+ Handle total system operation from controllers to sensors and software loading.
+ Calibrate systems using basic electronic test equipment like multi-meters and laptops.
+ Perform mid-level static commissioning of software programming.
+ Conduct site-specific training for owners/operators on total systems.
+ Set up operator workstations with associated software.
+ Perform daily job database backups or as advised.
+ Assist with project turnover to the Service Department.
+ Communicate with customers upon arrival and before leaving work sites.
+ Maintain a daily log of job-related activities.
+ Adhere to safety standards with high regard for employee and subcontractor safety.
+ Possess computer and networking skills to maintain laptops and mobile devices.
+ Understand the operation and control of mechanical equipment and control sequences.
Essential Skills
+ Experience with HVAC systems, computer and electrical skills.
+ Proficiency in building automation, troubleshooting, and controls.
+ Knowledge of BMS, HVAC, and tcp/ip protocols.
+ Field service experience with electronics and oscilloscopes.
+ Familiarity with Siemens, Trane, and Honeywell systems.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Bachelor’s Degree in building HVAC with a focus on building automation controls.
+ Field experience with Automated Logic Controls and third-party control systems.
+ Experience with Automated Logic and Phoenix software such as WebCtrl, SiteBuilder, and others.
+ Ability to handle simultaneous challenges across different disciplines.
Work Environment
The role covers NY territories. Candidates will be responsible for driving their own vehicles and will be reimbursed for daily expenses such as tolls and mileage. Reporting to Clifton daily is not required, allowing candidates to go straight to job sites from their homes. The reimbursement covers up to 56 miles per day, and all out-of-pocket expenses such as parking and tolls are covered. After transitioning to a full-time position, additional benefits such as a company car and credit card are provided. The position requires the capability to climb ladders and lift items up to 50 lbs. The work hours are typically from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, with no on-call shifts in the install group. The ideal candidate would reside in or close to New York City, although commuting from NJ or PA is common among current employees.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Hempstead, NY.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $50.00/hr.
