    Job Title: Radiology TechnologistJob Description

     

    As a Radiology Technologist, you will be responsible for positioning patients and adjusting equipment for various routine radiographic and fluoroscopic procedures. You will instruct patients about the procedures and monitor their vital signs during the examination. Safety is paramount as you operate radiologic equipment, and you will adhere to prescribed safety standards and use radiation protection as per department policy. You will select the appropriate length and intensity for radiation exposure tailored to each patient and authorize their release once the imaging examination is complete. Delivering diagnostic images to radiologists for interpretation and administering contrast media with correct instructions are key tasks. Your role will also involve contributing to equipment and supply purchase decisions, performing fluoroscopic studies following department protocols, maintaining patient records, and ensuring the supply area meets departmental needs. You will enhance your professional growth through education programs, conferences, and workshops, participate in required meetings, and take responsibility for portions of the quality assurance program.

    Responsibilities

    + Position patients and adjust equipment for routine radiographic and fluoroscopic procedures.

    + Instruct patients about procedures and monitor their vital signs during examinations.

    + Follow safety standards while operating radiologic equipment.

    + Use radiation protection according to department policy.

    + Adjust equipment to select appropriate radiation exposure for each patient.

    + Authorize patient release post-imaging examination.

    + Deliver diagnostic images to radiologists for reading and interpretation.

    + Administer contrast media and provide necessary instructions.

    + Contribute to equipment and supply purchase decisions.

    + Perform fluoroscopic studies according to department protocols.

    + Maintain patient records.

    + Ensure the supply area meets departmental needs.

    + Participate in education programs, conferences, and workshops for professional growth.

    + Attend required meetings and participate in committees.

    + Take responsibility for portions of the quality assurance program.

    Essential Skills

    + Proficiency in radiology, X-ray, scanning, and imaging techniques.

    + Strong patient care skills.

    + Completion of an accredited course of study in radiologic technology or an Associate Degree in Radiologic Technology.

    + Current certification with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).

    + Current state permit as a General Diagnostic Radiographer.

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

    + One year of experience as a radiology technologist is preferred.

    Work Environment

    The work environment is based at the Ames Main Clinic with flexible hours from Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm or 7:00 am to 4:00 pm. Every eight weeks, there is a Saturday shift from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm, with an additional compensation of $2.50 per hour. The position offers a comprehensive benefits package, including health and dental insurance, a 401(k) plan, and paid time off.

    The pay range for this position is $47590.00 - $60070.00/yr.
