As a Joining Engineer, you will apply engineering principles and analytical techniques to establish and continuously improve manufacturing processes and products. You will work to resolve quality issues through corrective actions and manage statistical process control activities.
Responsibilities
+ Apply engineering principles to enhance manufacturing processes and products.
+ Implement corrective actions to resolve quality issues using tools such as 8D and 6 panel.
+ Manage and direct statistical process control activities.
+ Execute measurement systems analysis and variable data analysis.
+ Identify sources of variation within the production environment efficiently.
+ Support expedited concern resolution with cross-functional teams including Quality, Production, and Suppliers.
+ Review incoming quality concerns and maintain quality in assigned areas.
+ Initiate containment, determine root causes, and implement corrective actions.
+ Develop and manage joining techniques, materials, and technologies.
+ Apply knowledge of joining technology, equipment controllers, and weld gun design.
+ Execute and verify joining processes and procedures.
+ Implement the joining certification strategy and understand schedule development.
+ Implement joining control plans.
Essential Skills
+ Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Weld Engineering.
+ 2+ years experience in weld or joining in a manufacturing environment.
+ Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
+ Experience in welding engineering, riveting, robotics, and joining technologies.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Knowledge of Six Sigma and continuous improvement methodologies.
+ Experience in manufacturing engineering.
Work Environment
The role is based in an automotive environment with a heavy workload involving close to 500 pieces of equipment. The site is extensive, covering 70 acres. The position operates on an AWS schedule, which may rotate between day and night shifts, with shifts typically being 12 hours long. The schedule generally includes rotations of 3 days on and 4 days off, 2 days on and 3 days off, and 5 days on and 4 days off. As it is a union plant, vacation planning is typically aligned with plant shutdowns during the 4th of July and Christmas.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of LOUISVILLE, KY.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $38.00 - $43.00/hr.
