Job Title: Embedded Software EngineerJob Description

We are seeking an Embedded Software Engineer to join our innovative team, dedicated to creating advanced RF technologies and solutions. Our products support a wide range of markets, including commercial, military, and space research. The ideal candidate will work closely with both software and hardware teams to create code and documentation essential for the system control and monitoring of our products. Experience with radio or TV transmitter studio equipment and/or system control of electro-mechanical systems is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

+ Develop software solutions by conferring with users, studying systems flow, data usage, and work processes.

+ Evaluate operational feasibility by assessing problem definitions, requirements, and proposed solutions.

+ Document and demonstrate solutions through the development of flowcharts, layouts, diagrams, charts, code comments, and clear code.

+ Stay updated with state-of-the-art development tools, programming techniques, and computing equipment.

+ Participate in educational opportunities, read professional publications, and maintain personal networks.

+ Provide advice, coaching, and participate in product/system design reviews.

+ Uphold the company's core values of Integrity, Innovation, Accountability, and Teamwork.

+ Report any quality problems or defects to management for corrective action.

+ Duties may be modified or assigned as needed to meet business requirements.

Essential Skills

+ Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a similar technical discipline.

+ 5+ years of experience as a software engineer with success in developing various software systems.

+ Experience developing control and monitoring applications using custom register interfaces and TCP protocols.

+ Proficiency in developing and troubleshooting complex software systems in mixed environments including Linux, Unix, and/or Windows.

+ TCP/IP debugging with ICDs.

+ Experience with Linux, C/C++, TCP/IP networking, and web development using Javascript, Node.js, and GTK+3.x.

+ Hands-on experience with lower-level communication protocols, lab/test equipment, schematics, and board-level parts.

+ Active DoD issued Secret Clearance.

+ Ability to develop GUI and control systems used in system monitoring.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

+ Experience with DSP, AJAX, SOAP, Ant, Servo motor tuning, PLC Ladder Diagrams, NTP, Subversion, and Git.

+ Experience writing embedded/Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) globally distributed applications.

+ UI and human-computer interaction design using GLADE, React, Ignition, or similar tools.

+ Experience modifying, designing, developing, and debugging device drivers for I2C, SPI, UART, USB, PCIe, GPIO.

+ Proficiency in using script tools such as Python, BASH, Lua, CSH, Perl, TCL/TK.

+ Experience with virtualization and simulation tools like Git, SVN, Jira, Buildroot, OpenEmbedded.

+ Experience with automated testing and build optimization.

+ Understanding of basic hardware circuit components and schematics.

+ Experience in a production environment supporting tight deadlines, deliverables, and milestones.

Work Environment

The work environment consists of a team of over 100 employees, with a third dedicated to engineering. Our primary products are high-power RF amplifiers, supplying transmitting equipment to military and space research entities. Employees will work in labs, testing software and prototypes, and using testing tools such as oscilloscopes and spectrum analyzers. The role requires understanding the interaction between software and hardware. The workplace encourages freedom and less structured environments, beneficial for those accustomed to smaller companies with few management layers. Flexibility in managing one's own time and projects is key.

This is a Permanent position based out of Dallas, TX.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $100000.00 - $150000.00/yr.
