Mechanic 2nd Shift
Purpose of position: Performs preventive and corrective maintenance to the production equipment. Prepares and changeover equipment and machinery for specific functions and jobs. Assists in the installation of new equipment. Diagnoses electrical and mechanical problems.
Essential Functions:
+ Perform production lines changeovers.
+ Inspect the tooling when removing it during a changeover and return it to the storage area. Report any problems detected.
+ Trouble shoots production equipment and makes repairs and adjustments as required.
+ Responding to urgent line equipment breakdowns and performing necessary repairs to minimize downtime.
+ Assist in line setups.
+ Regularly inspecting and servicing machinery according to a scheduled maintenance plan, including lubrication, cleaning, and component checks.
+ Maintaining detailed records of maintenance activities, repairs performed, and parts used.
+ Maintaining tooling storage area in an orderly fashion.
+ Work in a safe manner.
+ Maintain work site in a safe condition, walk around production lines inspecting air lines, extension cords and collecting and removing any unused part or machine from lines.
+ Report safety problems for immediate attention.
+ Observe constantly plant equipment and reports any unusual/abnormal operation to Plant Engineer or Manager.
+ Share mechanical knowledge with other DMI employees.
+ Trains mechanic trainee workers on changeovers, troubleshooting and repairs of production lines.
+ New project work.
+ In a growing organization such as ours, adherence to set policies is a must. However, to ensure a smooth-running operation, modifications, discontinuations or changes will be made to the position description as necessary.
+ Maintains air compressors, vacuum pumps and plant equipment.
Job Skills & Qualifications Requirements:
+ Proven mechanical ability demonstrated by observation and mechanical ability test.
+ Ability to use hand tools and trades type tools.
+ Own and use proper hand tools (Metric and Standard).
+ High mental and visual effort.
+ Good background in mechanical and electrical problem solving and implementing proper corrective measures
+ Knowledge of electricity, preferably from formal training.
+ Familiar with the operation of all production equipment.
+ Read and interpret electrical control schematics.
+ Willingness to do all tasks encountered in maintaining a facility and its equipment, i.e. cleaning equipment and maintenance areas, assisting assigned individual(s) in maintaining DMI inventory of parts and supplies.
+ Flexibility. Must be willing to be reassigned to a new task prior to completing the present task.
+ Complete assigned tasks on a timely basis.
+ Ability to work well with others and to contribute to their training.
+ Good English language speaking and reading skills.
+ Bilingual is a plus.
+ Occasional overtime and Saturdays.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Wharton, NJ.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $33.00 - $35.00/hr.
