The Field Technician is responsible for performing construction-related inspections on various projects, ensuring quality and adherence to building code requirements, construction drawings, and project specifications. This role involves daily inspections across multiple disciplines such as structural steel, concrete, masonry, and fireproofing. The technician will conduct visual and physical inspections, field testing, and prepare detailed reports documenting observations and testing results. Communication with engineers and project managers, adherence to safety standards, and collaboration on project solutions are integral to the role.
Responsibilities
+ Perform testing, observation, and inspection as directed, in accordance with training and specified procedures.
+ Read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
+ Provide clear documentation of findings and results.
+ Conduct basic analysis of data to verify accuracy before communicating and submitting to the Project Manager.
+ Communicate information to the Project Manager and other personnel as directed.
+ Draft inspection reports for review by senior inspectors and/or Project Managers.
+ Assist more senior inspectors on projects as required.
+ Follow safety rules and practices for all projects, including pre-task planning.
+ Report any safety issues or concerns to management.
+ Maintain quality standards on all projects.
Essential Skills
+ Experience in construction inspection.
+ Certifications in ACI, ICC, NICET for Soil, Concrete, Masonry, and Asphalt.
+ Strong report writing and communication skills.
+ Minimum 4-5 years experience as an Engineering Technician or equivalent.
+ 3 years experience in construction inspection.
+ Valid driver's license with an acceptable violation history.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ High school diploma or equivalent required.
+ Associate's degree in Civil Engineering Technology or Construction Engineering Technology preferred.
Work Environment
The work schedule is typically 8 am to 5 pm, Monday to Friday, with potential for Saturday work if needed. A work truck is provided, and travel between project sites is required, reimbursed at IRS rates of 0.67 cents per mile. The position involves working outdoors in varying weather conditions, around heavy operating equipment, and in confined spaces. Personal protective equipment such as hard hats, safety-toe boots, and safety glasses is mandatory. Physical demands include standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, and lifting up to 30 pounds. Overnight travel may be required to support projects at different locations.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Tallahassee, FL.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $30.00/hr.
