    Description

    We are looking for a dedicated and personable Patient Access Specialist to join our healthcare team in Roanoke, Virginia. In this role, you will provide essential support to patients and visitors, ensuring their experience is both seamless and positive. This is a Contract to permanent position within a fast-paced environment where exceptional organizational and communication skills are vital.

    Responsibilities:

    • Welcome patients and visitors warmly, creating a detail-oriented and friendly atmosphere.

    • Accurately register patients, verify insurance details, and update their records as needed.

    • Manage scheduling for patient appointments, including confirmations and follow-ups.

    • Process payments, collect co-pays, and ensure daily transactions are balanced efficiently.

    • Work closely with clinical and administrative teams to facilitate smooth patient flow.

    • Protect patient privacy by strictly adhering to confidentiality policies and regulations.

    • Address concerns and inquiries from patients with empathy, escalating issues when necessary.

    Requirements

    • Proven experience in patient scheduling and registration within a healthcare setting is a plus.

    • At least one year of customer service experience is required.

    • High school diploma or GED is required.

    • Strong customer service skills, including call center or direct patient interaction experience.

    • Ability to assist patients effectively and with professionalism.

    • Familiarity with healthcare systems and processes for managing patient services.

    • Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities in a fast-paced environment.

    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to connect with patients and staff.

    • Knowledge of confidentiality practices and HIPAA compliance.

    • Proficiency in handling payments and balancing transactions accurately.
