    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    The University of North Carolina at Charlotte invites applications for an Assistant or Associate Professor in the Department of Political Science and Public Administration, with a research and teaching focus on Energy Policy and Quantitative Methods. This nine-month, tenure-track appointment begins August 15, 2026. Salary is competitive. The selected candidate will be appointed as Assistant Professor or Associate Professor, with rank determined by the candidate’s qualifications. It is expected that this is a research-intensive position with a standard 2-2 courseload. The chosen faculty is expected to be a core faculty member in the Public Policy Ph.D., an interdisciplinary program situated in the College. Core faculty engage directly with the Ph.D. students in research and teaching. The selected faculty member is also expected to collaborate with UNC Charlotte’s Energy Production and Infrastructure Center ( EPIC (https://epic.charlotte.edu/) ) to advance the university’s innovation in the energy area. The selected candidate will be appointed as Assistant Professor or Associate Professor, with rank determined by the candidate’s qualifications.

    Minimum Experience / Education:

    UNC Charlotte gives primary consideration to the earned doctorate or terminal degree in the teaching discipline or a related discipline.

    Preferred Education Skills and Experience:

    Candidates must have a Ph.D. in Political Science, Public Policy, or a related field at the time of appointment. Candidates must have research and teaching expertise in Energy and Public Policy, as well as ability to teach both basic and advanced quantitative research methods. Candidates must demonstrate research and teaching excellence.
