Description

We are looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to join our team on a contract basis in Lockport, Illinois. This role involves managing critical financial operations, including month-end closings, reconciliations, and tax submissions, while ensuring compliance and accuracy. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in accounting systems and processes, along with a proactive approach to problem-solving and process optimization.

Responsibilities:

• Facilitate the month-end closing process for multiple organizational plants, ensuring timely and accurate completion.

• Prepare and analyze monthly financial statements to provide insights into company performance.

• Manage the submission of sales tax to various states, ensuring full compliance with regulations.

• Conduct account reconciliations, including cash and credit card transactions, to maintain accurate financial records.

• Identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements within accounting operations.

• Assist with system upgrades and conversions, leveraging expertise in SAP Business One.

• Provide weekly cash forecasts and support proactive financial planning.

• Coordinate audit fieldwork, overseeing testing processes to ensure compliance and completeness.

• Act as a backup for payroll and benefits functions to ensure continuity in these essential areas.

• Perform ad-hoc financial analyses to support strategic decision-making.

The salary range for this position is $27/hr to $30/hr. Benefits available to contract/temporary professionals, include medical, vision, dental, and life and disability insurance. Requirements • Proven experience in month-end close procedures and general ledger management.

• Strong skills in preparing journal entries and performing account reconciliations.

• Proficiency in bank and cash reconciliations to ensure financial accuracy.

• Familiarity with SAP Business One and other accounting systems.

• Solid understanding of tax submission processes and compliance requirements.

• Ability to manage multiple responsibilities and prioritize tasks effectively.

• Experience in conducting audits and handling audit fieldwork.

• Excellent analytical skills with a focus on identifying process improvements.
