Description We are looking for a skilled Controller to join our team on a contract basis in Midlothian, Virginia. This role requires a strategic thinker who is also comfortable with hands-on tasks to ensure the smooth operation of financial processes. The position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to a dynamic retail environment for a duration of 8-12 weeks.
Responsibilities:
• Lead and manage the company's financial operations, ensuring accuracy and compliance with relevant regulations.
• Oversee and guide a team of three accounts payable specialists and an entry-level accountant.
• Handle sales tax reporting and filings, ensuring timely and accurate submissions.
• Conduct cost accounting analysis to support business decision-making.
• Compile and scan financial documents to maintain organized and accessible records.
• Manage document control processes to ensure consistency and reliability.
• Collaborate with leadership to provide strategic insights and recommendations.
• Perform detailed reviews of financial data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
• Ensure proper documentation and scanning of all critical financial records.
• Support the team in meeting deadlines and maintaining high standards of financial reporting. Requirements • Proven experience in a Controller or similar financial leadership role.
• Knowledge of sales tax regulations and cost accounting principles.
• Ability to lead and manage teams effectively.
• Proficiency in document control and scanning processes.
• Strong analytical skills with attention to detail.
• Familiarity with compiling and maintaining financial records.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Ability to adapt to a fast-paced retail environment.
