    The Job:

    This position is responsible for planning and directing the activities of the Transportation and Logistics Planning team to meet the needs of the customer while maintaining efficiency in the distribution center. The position requires continuous monitoring of activity to maximize service, while maintaining a cost structure. Responsible for short and long-term planning, employment of resources, budgeting and expense control and implementation of operational policies, programs and systems for the department. Builds a sense of customer commitment throughout the business unit and works cooperatively with other members of the operation to continually improve customer satisfaction.

     

    + Effectively delegates and manages activities of the Customer Support and the Logistics Planning team, keeping them informed, focused and motivated.

    + Monitors, evaluates, and assesses key productivity indicators such as financial, productivity, service level and performance objectives to reduce and control cost efforts for the department.

    + Responsible for designing, implementing and evaluating improved processes and operational polices, recommending changes to fulfill the customers’ requirements.

    + Manages the export process and is responsible for developing and enforcing standard operating procedures to comply with U.S and foreign regulations

    + Manage Human Resource activities with staff hiring, orientation, training, performance evaluation, disciplinary actions, pay increase determination, and development of all supervisory employees within the department.

    + Leads and promotes performance and productivity through effective training and constant feedback to supervisors and associates.

    + Establishes clear direction; sets performance metrics and stretch objectives, distributes workload appropriately in an organized manner.

    + Assists the DC Manager with special projects, such as process improvement teams and identification of best practice recommendations and implementation.

    The Person:

    + 10+ years of functional experience leading a fast-paced distribution center as well as a broad background of distribution/network strategies, technologies and operations.

    + High energy and innovation with a tenacity to get the job done

    + Experience in high volume line and SKU count order picking environment, wave planning, slotting strategies, freight optimization and export shipping

    + Proven History of Leadership within the areas of Distribution/Logistics Operations and Transportation Management.

    + Experience with Red Prairie Discrete WMS or equivalent WMS driven DC environments

    + Bachelor’s degree concentrating in Operations Management, Engineering, Business or Supply Chain

    + Proven track record of change management (driving, influencing and inspiring change through communication at all impacted levels).

    + Quality and ISO 9001 background experience preferred

    + Plans Strategically: Demonstrates the ability to determine goals, direction and action steps necessary to maximize short-term and long-term.

    + Problem Solving: Anticipates and reacts quickly and appropriately to potential problems in the DC; follows up in a timely manner to issues not immediately resolvable; ties all loose ends. Strong facilitation and negotiation skills.

    + Customer Driven: Creates a customer-focused environment in which excellent service is provided to all Customers; sees business through the eyes of the Customer.

    + Motivates self and others to accomplish important objectives despite a complex environment and multiple demands; creates a sense of urgency; delegates appropriately.

    + Drives Continuous Improvement: Ability to create best practices through LEAN, and Kaizen events

    + Communicates Effectively: Communicates clearly and concisely with all audiences; keeps others informed and listens carefully to input and feedback; adapts messages to fit audience.
